Does anyone out there use their Sager 9860 for video editing? Specifically with Avid Express Essentials package or any of it's components? I would like to ask you a couple of questions feel free to email me.

I neither use Avid Xpress nor have a 9860, but I believe there were some issues with the 9860 and Avid not working well together. Try searching the threads.

Edit:
A quick search found me this post in a relevant thread: http://notebookforums.com/showthread...342#post558342

Yeah I have read about the 9860 sound card problems and I don't mind using an Audigy notebook sound card or using periphreals. I am more wondering how I should configure my hard drives if I am using that slot for the video card. Will to set my video scratch disk to an external? I am not very experienced with configuring raid drives and have a few questions for what hardware set up works best.

Update:

Also the last post on that thread was a month ago, are any signs of new drivers for the onboard sound card...

Update: I alsoo have questions about the ATI X800 and its compatability with Avid but that may be a question for the Avid Forums.

I'm running AVID Xpress Pro version 4.6 on a Sager 9860. I have two 80 gig SATA's in a RAID 0 formation. Made two partitions: 40 gigs for system, 120 gigs for media.

Like I've mentioned in previous posts, I use the Audigy card and like the fact that I can switch to the realtek onboard audio when I wish.

I don't have MOJO or any additional external storage. I'm eager to eventually test these BUT in my present configuration I'm experiancing no problems whatsoever. Private message me if you have additional questions.

I just want to add that the internal speakers will work. You just need the Audigy to start the program... Don't ask me why, but it works for me.

I am familiar with Avids picky hardware requirements. I am really dissapointed that I will apparently have to settle for a Nvidia 6800 instead of an X800 if I want to run Avid Xpress Pro. Have any of you been able to run Avid on 9860 with an ATI card?
