New ASUS Laptops that will be released

Thread Starter
Just got the Asusworld magazine and these laptops are coming out:

V6:
15" XGA / SXGA+
915 Chipset
MR X600
DDR Memory
a/b/g wireless
It says bluetooth is an interface so I guess it's built in.
2.36kg
Supposedly has better speakers since they are built in to the palm rest.

W3A:
14" XGA 1280X768 LCD
915GM Chipset
DDR2 400
802.11 a/b/g
Bluetooth as well?
33x24.7x3-3.27cm
2.2kg

W3N:
Same as W3A
has MR 9700
DDR333

W5A:
12.1" WXGA
915GM Chipset
DDR2 400
802.11 a/b/g
Has 1 megapixel Camera built in
Color is pearl white like S5Ne.

The rest of the models are A serires and the older models (M5, S5, W1N, etc)

I hope Asus comes out with W5N with a 915PM chipset and MR9700 even if it uses regular DDR.

Any info on the release of the W3A?
Did they have any pictures?
V6V offers a ZERO dead pixel policy from ASUS.
There is some info at www.asus.com they all look so good, there are no laptops that look so cool like that. too bad the specs kinda suck
post #6 of 36
Cant wait for the W3V with x600....Yet still no MXM support......
The W5A looks great, 533Fsb dothan and DDR2 delivers performance as well.
That v6 series looks to be exactly the right notebook for me. Damn i'm glad i waited.
When asus decides to make a sonoma based 15.4 notebook of the same quality as the W5N, ill buy. until then, good effort on mediocre releases.
What's happening to the widescreens?!
but W5A is a nice little thing........

maybe when i get the extra cash

The problem with the v6, the design is nice, but the palm rest area is a bit large. The brush aluminum style will leave a lot of finger prints.

It looks bigger than the M6000 series. Look in the Sonoma Consolidated Thread, there are some pictures and discussion about them.

And what is with Asus and their 64MB Video RAM, my goodness..pump up the memory...

Have they set a release date yet?

Is there any idea of the time-line of these releases? How long will we have to wait?
Cnet asia says it will be released in Singapore late Febuary, but how long to get to the states is another question.
Besides those new models, I think Asus is also updating their current line of laptops into Sonoma, models such as the W1A, I think.

I think we're going to see a few different things from Asus in the next 6 months to a year...remember there were reports that they are going to try and become a "brand" here in the U.S. - similar to how they are in Australia and Europe. So it is only natural that there will be reshuffling and whatnot...it just sucks to have to wait and see.

And I swear it's probably just because I'm retarded and from Baltimore, but does anyone else horribly pronounce the manufacturer's names...

For example, even though I know it's ah-sous, I still say aey-sus for Asus

or it's supposed to be a-re-ma, but I say air-ra-ma for Arima

Same, I always thoguth "eh - s (soft) - us".... your saying its supposed to be "ah - s (soft) - us" or "ah - s (soft) - ous"?
I guess as long as nobody says az-uz we're fine

Yeah, it's "ah" with a long a, followed by "sous" as in Dr. Seuss...I only know because I had to call them directly for a memory compatibility question and the operator pronounced it that way.
