presario 2200 time loss

shades of the twilight zone, my 2 month old presario 2200 will after a night of sleep sometimes reset its time to Jan 1, 2004. The internal battery is kept charged. I know this is not a cutting edge laptop, but its sure too soon for a cmos battery to fail. does anyone know if this unit has a cmos battery, or as I ave read could this unit have another system rather than a cmos battery. anything else that could cause this odd behavior. other than that it works fine thanks for any input

Mine does the exact same thing. Do you have an anwser yet? Compaq told me to send it in, and it would take 6 weeks. My wife uses it for school, so that is not an option.
