I would suggest www.crucial.com for RAM. They have a great product and great service.

I just cancelled my crucial order

after reading this. Why pay MORE for 2 dimms of crucial when you can get one dimm of the kingmax 1gb and have an extra slot open for less money???

If you want a 1 GB stick then Kingmax is much cheaper than Crucial. However, if all you want is a 512 MB stick, then Crucial is only 20 bucks more and I feel Crucial will be better quality compared to the Kingmax. I would go with Corsair or Kingston for a 1 GB stick before I would go with Kingmax only because I have no personal experience with Kingmax. My experience with Crucial, Kingston, and Corsair have been excellent.

Uhmmm...Folks. Most CAS 2.5 sticks of decent quality will run fine at CAS 2.0. Give it a shot. I OC the heck outta Desktop memory the last 5 years (and I always run at CAS 2.0), only once had one go bad (Crucial) and they replaced it no questions, . Just always get it lifetime warranty.

I suggest Elpida, a high quality OEM supplier; my M60 used two 1GB sticks of their PC2700.
Elpida puts integrated heat spreaders on the modules, and run a couple degrees cooler (as measured by FanGUI on my M60) than equivalent memory.
The two sticks of 1GB PC4200 in my M70 are made by Samsung (another high quality OEM supplier); I have an agreement with our Dell Rep to replace all our PC4200 SODIMMs with Elpida modules as soon as they are available to Dell.(next month).

The problem is that not enough manufacturers are making the 1GB DDR2 PC4200 memory. It's freaking hard to find for a good price!

I was a bit worried too about quality when I bought my kingmax 1gb but i read mostly positive reviews and well it had a "lifetime warranty" so it was a hard deal to let down on. So I finally gave in.
