Here is the problem...after 1 wk with my 7700 and no problems at all I go to the Microsoft Update site to see if I have all the necessary critical and security stuff...so it says I need to download and install...Microsoft.Net Framework 1.1 Service pack1...so I do this and then it recommends I resasrt and I click..ok..now the trouble begins...windows will not load and then my 7700 locks..so I manually turn off and on and it still will not load windows and it locks on the blank screen just ofter the Windows XP screen...so, I have been working all night and I am not to happy so I call AW tech support and after an hour and almost reformat, my lappy is back to normal so, the question I have is....How do you guys, who have much more expperience and knowledge than I, handle these "critical" and "security" updates..this update was containing both security and non-security issues and I see that now I have 6 other updates recommended to install and the one that caused this problem in the first place... I do not want to repeat this again...any and all suggestions will be appreciated..Thanks Guys.....and no DB, I was not downloading any midget porn and naked female wrestling when this happened..it happened just as stated

When did you get your laptop? I would have thought they would install SP2 on you computer. That may be your problem. If all else fails, just don't download the one that gave you problems.

Turn off all of your start up items before you do any updates. This is a conflict issue with another program.

also make sure your drivers for your 7700 are sp2 compatable and also especially with networking cards and pcmia cards that there drivers are okay, all it takes is one dodgy driver to be messed up with a update to stop you booting up.

1 week ago and SP2 is installed..this was different and it happened again when I downloaded a driver for my mouse..another hour with support and it is working fine again but there is a conflict with something obviously...this was a SP1 associated download and I am not going to try to download again soon as this was a real pain in the ass..thanks for your help..sincerely appreciated
