The absolute most impressive support I've ever seen!

Thread Starter
Hands down, best site I've seen in years! I'm in the market for my first laptop, as to replace my desktop. I was caught up in the laptop craze through my friend's Alienware Area51m. But some good research on the laptop and Alienware's lack of user support brought me here. I must say, this forum and PCTORQUE'S dedication to the customer has swayed my decision in a laptop, for sure!

I'm planning on making a purchase in about 2-3 weeks. Any word on the 16" (or is it 16.1") screens on the 8886 being offered by pctorque.com in the near future???

Rock on...

Thanks =)

I'll post here as soon as I have any info or confirmed dates for the 16.1" UXGA LCD.

I had a question, on the pctorque website, i am unable to access the accessories for further details. Was there a reason? I had wanted to look at the pics of accessories. Thanks

A few of them don't have detailed information set up yet. Which item were you looking at?

I'll be interested in getting one when both the 16 inch display is available, and a DVD writer (preferably DVD-RW and DVD+RW). Sony has a DVD writer available for their GRX600 series, so Sager ought to have them too.

will sager be willing to retrofit a 15.7" 8886 with a 16" UXGA? or will they be building the next 8800 series model on a different base case?

Sager hasn't even announced the 16.1" LCD yet and haven't even confirmed with me when and if it will be available. They don't want any part in announcing things before they're for sure and here so they don't get burned by a change of plans or a recall.

I agree with the philosophy PCTorque and Sager both take on not announcing something before it is for sure... Yeah, it might lose them some attention from people who are all in for hype, but I think in the end it is just the best way to conduct business (as well as friendship, lol, which consequently works out even better for customers as well). A 16 inch screen would be cool, but my gosh, this 15.7 inch screen is remarkable... it's a 17inch CRT in its viewable area... and it's just plain great. A dvd writer can always be added to the second bay or bought later... when they first come out they'll prolly be pretty expensive anyway. IMO, it would be worth it to save those til the price goes down a lil and buy them separate as an accessory. But, others need it or want it sooner.

I definately think that Sager has the correct way of selling their products. Instead of saying "Hey were gunna have this really cool, top of the line things in the future" which may or may not actually happen, Sager actually sells really cool, top of the line products now and that are real!

Could not have put it better... :-) The hype that alienware has going with the 3.06 is disgusting... even if it does work and the people who bought them don't get screwed over, it's still wrong to do... saying something when it's not a fact yet.

They DON'T get screwed? Didn't they pay 300+ for 300 mhz? Without HT?

DO you work for Sager PR?

The title of your post is incongruent with your message. You sound like your job is to hype up the companies product.... pure hype.

opusagogo... I didn't understand your post. Who were you talking to? What do you mean? Sorry, I was just curious :-)

I think he was getting at the fact that the poster hasn't purchased a lappy yet, but is praising the support. Kind of threw me at first too, but enthusiasm never killed anyone (well, maybe a couple of people).
Eh, still makes no sense to me, lol. What poster? I haven't purchased one, but I have one... lol, that's proof enough of sweetness in a company. I only say this in case it was directed at me. I didn't see anywhere in the thread where someone praised support without seeing it... lol, these forums are an example of great support. You don't have to buy a laptop to get the support, which is rare for most companies, and there's so much more you can do with peers at a place like this. It's why I like the forums so much :-)

That is the future, PCTORQUE will start to repair the laptop and after you will purchase it. That is THE SOLUTION for the international warranty.

Opusagogo was talking about the fact that ROBOTHOUSE! was praising the support before he had even purchased a laptop. You'd have to ask Opusagogo to be sure, but that was the impression that I got. I'm with you, Beebster, I think that this site is great for pre-purchase support. But, some people only think of support as how a company treats you after they have all of your money (tech support, warranty, etc.).

...I reread the whole thread, and I get why you thought he was targeting you, since his post came almost right after yours, but I'm pretty sure he was talking about ROBOTHOUSE!. But if that's not the case, you could always use your god-like mod powers...
