Where does it say that it's a dual CPU board?

All I see is only one socket. Or were you referring to the GPU's?

My bad...

But the link you put up has the DFI SLI MB coming up on anandtech, that's where the confusion started.

just so happens thats on web page also i think if you scroll down he talks about the abit board.

yeah, Tyan has one out as well , I'm thinking about getting one, and putting dual opteron 252's (when they come out next week) and 2 6800 GT's in SLI. Because of the dual processors, you can actually have two full 16x PCIe slots, not the 2 8x slots like single processor mobos.
(BTW, the opteron 252's are the same as the FX-55, with the multiprocessor parts unlocked.)

Iwill has a dual opteron board too. These have been around for awhile now.

what puzzles me about the abit sli says it can handle up t 8gb of ram however i only see 4 ram slots. you can see in picture 2 ram slots aside each processor. i dont know alot about dual processor motherboards but how do they get 8gb out of 4 ram slots?
It's possible you can put a 2gb stick in each slot. Server motherboards usually allow for more memory.

in games, 1 FX55 is faster then 2 high end opertons. just because its 2 processors doesnt automatically mean faster performance (in games anyway).

correct me if i'm wrong.

I guess that makes sense...a P4EE with HT doesnt kick a FX55...even though two procs and 2x the cache

Very true, but I would sacrafice a bit of game performance for the benefit of Dial Xeons when it comes to rendering and encoding jobs.

well there you go, for gaming, dual processors = no no. but what about dual cores?

Dual core shouldn't be an issue. It's the ecc memory that drops the performance. Now a dual dual-core setup on the other hand...

all operton systems need buffered ecc memory?
