How does the dell xps look in person is it to big does it look goofy?
Im planning on buying one they have the speed and power i want i just dont know about the looks.

Does it look and feel plasticy? Hows the paint?

It looks like an awsome laptop but i would rather have the proud owner tell me that.

No comment on the looks, but just so you know, the current XPS is labeled "while supplies last," which means a new model is coming out. Personally, I'd say to wait for the new one, but if you don't want to, you should hurry up before you end up waiting anyways.

We can't deny it's plastic, but it does look good and solid.

As -007- says, if they are going to release a new version, I would wait if I was you, that's if you can wait.

I bought a QuickSnap cover, but I must admit I prefer it without.

I have no bad review to give to this laptop, it meets all my expectations. My friends who have seen it also thing it looks great. But it's what you find under the hood that really impress them.

If you do get one

Go with the MR9800. I didn't and wish I had. The MR9700 stinks and Dell's support of the MR9700 is even worse!

It IS big. However, I quite like the looks as noone else has a Dell in my crew =)

... and besides: If anyone tries to make fun of it, im just like: "Yeah... but I run hl2 with everything maxed at 1280x800 on a LAPTOP. So go **** your mom."

If you want to impress people that don't know about computers , don't go for a dell xps. If you want to impress people who know their shit, go for the xps.

Piss it. I wont lie. The thing is massive!!!

Its about twice the normal size and 4 times as big as these wee tiny things that people like to whip out in lectures.

But when you whip out the XPS, sit it down and listen to the fans over power the wee crappy laptop speakeres on the guy next to you, then you crack on HL2 and piss all over everyone its darn worth it!!

I liken it to American muscle cars (as im in UK) They have massive engines and sound nuts, never mind if another car can keep up with it or not, when your at the traffice lights people know your gonna shaft the guy next to you.

Thats my tuppence worth

So when you start your xps in class you hear people switching the safety off or reaching for knives? Sounds like a tough class.

Hahaha!! Hell yes! When you compare a slim notebook to the XPS, the XPS looks like it'll kick the shit out of the little one, and it does for obvious reasons. It is the first laptop that I have owned that can actually play games without lagging. It especially looks great when you use it without any quicksnap covers. Maybe that's because when I bought it, they only had three to choose from...skullz, plasma, and cypher. They all looked crappy. Now they actually have a few decent ones, but I think overall, the quicksnap covers make the laptop look childish. I am one for the sleek plain look w/o the cover.

just pop it on the library table , play some HL2, some Doom 3 and people will stop and look in awe.. also the skullz quicksnap helps

Just to clarify things, I still have the 64mb mr9700(ya I know), and ya I plan on an upgrade eventually, but I need to give credit where credit's do. The mr9700 is still one hell of a card. I hear a lot of trash talkin' about it probably cause' people want to glorify the mr9800, and more power to them. But I'm playing half-life 2 at a reasonable res and it's still VERY impressive. So maybe the loading times are a wee bit longer, It's still a good card and if games don't always NEED to have max settings and exreme framerates, it's still a great card. MR9700, I salute you!

no one denied the 9700 is a great card. it pretty much started up the mobile gpu wars!! but dude once you get a gig of ram and a 9800...simply no comparison!!! thats why i want the pipes unlocked or at least some sort of an upgrade option to the x800 mobility!!
