Alienware, I am disappointed - Page 2

As far as water cooling being an expert user option; no way. If your pump dies you will hear it stop, it's like a failed fan and probably a bit louder when it goes. I have a buddy that’s a complete computer neophyte and he can maintain his H20 system. Not to mention that the ALX is based on the Koolance system which uses almost idiot proof fittings and equipment.

Like Tar said, can you add oil or coolant to your car? Then you’re gonna be ok. It's not rocket science, and you don't need a degree in fluid dynmics to make it work.

And I run only 1 120MM fan myself, on the radiator. Any noise beyond that is the DD pump.

I'm not even entirely certain if it's the water cooling, regardless. I love the system, just am disappointed by all the problems.

Do you have the respawn CD or a ghost? Reason I ask is I have messed with my oc settings and have had my computer mimic what you have experienced. I had an "accidental" hardboot once which seemed to mess with my oc settings. Alienware iirc respawns your PC on any hardware malfunction anyway. Maybe it will help. At any rate, I feel for you and hope that everything gets resolved asap.

totally mate, if you've got a broken drive, don't keep quiet. You've paid big money for that thing. Its supposed to work!! They'll just send you a new drive. Make sure you pester their support, cos you've paid big money. If you don't get anywhere on the phone PM alienware Juan or Steve. They'll help you out, or at least point you in the direction of the right ALX support rep for the job. Good luck

Swift, I'll just make a comment that your already aware of...Theres no cure against random failure in any brand. It all ends up being a giant hassle. These NBF forums are full of that kind of proof. One big hassle. There just isn't enough complaints about Alienware products to make them out as a bad company and bad product. Its just no fun when it happens to you. They will do everything they can to fix the problems and that includes changing how they do business, if thats what it takes. Its probably the main reason Alienware has gone into unofficial forums and offered assistance to owners. They want you to be satisfied with your Alienware and do what they need to do. You should send a message to an Alienware Rep if you haven't already done so (Alienware-JuanG or Alienware-Steve). Thanks for the reply concerning DIY.

Spyther and Swift,

I apologize for the problems you have been having with your systems. If you pm me with your information I will make sure your aurora and ALX will perform as they were meant to before leaving depot.

Thank you.
