Mates I guess I am the one who had his 6th lappy here. Yes this is my sixth lappy.

First I had a Dell Latitude (pentium 2 300mmx) worked perfectly

Second, I had a Sony Vaio (amd duron 700mhz) hated it!

Third, Toshiba Satellite (pentium celeron 1.8ghz) hated its dvd rom drive

Fourth, Compaq Presario (pentium iv 2.8ghz) the ones before HP compalation so it was sucked

Fifth, here we go! I did the right decision again and bought an DELL Inspiron 5150 <had no problem with it, perfectly perfect

Sixth, my current beast, I love it and Love it

what your history?
first notebook, unknown brand and was a pentium 2, was really crappy and slow.

IBM thinkpad, pentium 2 series, so old and crappy

compaq 715 us with mobile amd athlon, pretty good notebook, heavy as shit though

Dell inspiron 1100- celeron, just for basic websurfing and chatting , decent notebook crappy battery life.

Sony vaio pentium 4 2.0ghz, was a really good notebook until it overheated and died only a year and a half after i bought it, with no extended warranty.

Toshiba p25-s520 with 17inch screen and pentium 4 ht 3.0ghz, dvd burner, really good notebook, just not portable enough for me so i sold it, wish i actually would have kept it for a desktop replacement.

Dell inspiron 700m, best notebook i've ever used, continue to use it now as my main and only machine.

Also had a 9100 and 9200 in there somewhere but returned them.
hopefully planning on going with a mac notebook soon too.

Bought a i600m a while back, love the portability and the thing can still play World of Warcraft at 1024x768 at over 20fps. Had some issues which the warranty covered, then the primary battery died like a month after the warranty expired. Now I'm out of warranty and if anything major breaks I'm just going to sell it off for parts or something.

Got the 9100 a few weeks ago. Love it but I'll still be travelling with the 600m, at least until it dies.

this is my first own computer...this xps rocks. only things i need are larger hdd @ 7200 rpm and faster grphx card

First one a Compaq..PI or PII don't even remember. The transfo was in the laptop imagine the heat lolll

Number 2, Dell Inspiron 7000 fully equip, still running, did its duty. Except for the CPU, it's still a good PC to surf the Web and do basic thing (256M of RAM).

Number 3, another Compaq same config as my Inspiron, except for the memory (64M or ram)

Number 4, a dell latitude, in the 4000 series?? don't remember. That was the less impressif Dell I had.

Number 5, a dell inspiron 5000 series... good lappy, no problem still used at the office (we have two at the office).

Number 6, Asus ... a centrino... defective keyboard at delivery and defective battery after 6 month of use (my old Inspiron was lasting longer then this new one)

Number 7, Dell Inspiron 8500... again, good lappy, no problem so far

and the best to finish....
THE iXPS

Hey this is 8 laptop in a bit more then 5 years lolll

First laptop was Compaq Armada M300.It was great.
Had a seperate docking station (Mobile Expansion Unit)
The only thing I needed was an integrated optical drive, especially CDRW drive, which M300 didn't have. Since M300 weighed only 3lbs, I wouldn't carry heavy laptops. Then I found Dell 700M. Everything that I need in a small package.

My first laptop was a 5000e - thing was cool for two years, then the mobo got messed up - killing the fan; had that replaced, but now (after warranty period by many years) the mobo killed power to the fan again...thus i went and bought a new lappy

Number 2 - My fairly new i9100 (got it a few days to a week or two after the MR9800 was released)... love it so far, great price when i bought it and the cooling system makes me feel very confortable with leaving it on doing intensive tasks... hope this thing doesn't melt itself, but if it does it better happen within the warranty period. I might buy a 3.4ghz northwood P4 or the EE if the prices drop enough.

Well I just bought my second Dell laptop and so far I'm happy with it. My first laptop was an Inspiron 8200 which I still have and I was happy with that until I broke the screen awhile ago.

2. Acer Travelmate 630 (P4 1.7 GHz; 384 MB RAM; 30 GB; 16x CD-R/RW / 8x DVD; 16 MB GeForce2 Go) still in use

First and only laptop so far; the Dell 316 LT, bought back in 1989. Those were the days! 40 mb harddrive, 2 mb ram, 16 mhz cpu etc. Played HL2 maxed out, honest to god! The screen was B/W though.

lmao mattias. Anywho my first desktop was a P3 700. My 9100 is my very first laptop and I love it. There will be many more Dell's bought in my lifetime (since i'm 18 I have a while to go).
I have had 3 Dell desktops starting with a PII 350. I was happy with all of them but this is my first DR laptop and I love it. I will never look back.

Gonna laugh, First one was a NEC Versa 6050mh, p150, 32mb mem. Hated it, clunky, typing was weird, drive eventually died and never looked back.

Next one was a IBM T20 Thinkpad, 600mhz, 128mb mem. Absalutely loved it. One of the best laptops I used for the time period. Damn durable. Backlight ended up going.

Now an XPS beast. Kinda miss the battery time of the T20, but it sure is beefy.

Cheers

2000 - Toshiba Desktop Celeron 466Mhz (Sold to family friend)
2002 - DELL Demension 8200 Pentium 4 2.53Ghz (Sold to ex roommate)
2003 - DELL Demension 8250 (returned for 8300) 2.66Ghz (Sold on eBay)
2004 - DELL Demension 4700C (3.2Ghz)
2003 - DELL Latitude D800 & X300 (sold both on eBay) to finally settle on:
2004 - DELL Inspiron 700m

With the massive discounts on most of these (% off coupons + rebates + fatwallet.com), I don't lose much on resale.

I like my current 700m and 4700c and will probably stay with these for some time. Got 2 other friends hooked on the 700m now.

BTW: My friend has the XPS and upgraded to the 256 MR9800 and couldn't be happier.

My wife has an older Dell C600 we got off of Dell Auction, so my XPS is the second lappy in the house. I friggin' love this brick!
