Hi,

I concur with ActiveState Perl. It is much better than the Perl that is part of the Windows NT and 2000 resource kits, and is better than the Perl that is part of the Cygwin utilites. I use the Cygwin utilites to get vi, and the other UNIX utilities that Iwill give up when they pry them from my cold dead fingers.

As a long time PERL guy I can tell you - you will need,

Programming Perl
Perl Cookbook

Both by Oreilly. They kick ass - they literally run up to your ass and kick it.

Also if you need any help with the PERL or the loading of linux (I cannot stress strongly enough that you should use a UNIX env for perl - no real reason just windows sucks ). Let me know and I will try and help
