4750 unresolved problems

Thread Starter
1. Intermittent lockups. I've tried everything to fix the, new drivers, heat dissipation, etc etc. It's a rare day of heavy use that this thing doesn't lock up. It sucks because it's an awesome system otherwise. Sometimes it just freezes, sometimes it gets the black screen with the white or blue bar on the right hand side.

2. Got a new pack of BenQ DVD+R's. Burned one fine, but the drive won't read it. Hangs/causes sound to blast garbage etc. The - Maxells I've been using have worked fine.

3. I want to get a bluetooth wireless desktop, keyboard, mouse etc. The manual says not to use bluetooth and wifi at the same time because of communication conflicts, which seems ridiculous to me. Does anyone here use both wifi and btooth at the same time?

Thanks alot for reading! I've had this thing for a couple months and love it but I'm getting very frustrated because a $3k machine should not lock up like that. I haven't contacted Sager tech support because honestly it seems like the community here has far more of a handle on things, I'm guessing tech support will be taking shots in the dark hoping I will go away. Because from what I've read over the past months, this model has consistent problems like that.

Try updating the firmware of your dvd drive.

Bluetooth and wireless use the same frequency, (2.4ghz) just like some phones, and I know some people have trouble with phones and wireless so it is possible that bluetooth and wireless can interfere, although I have not heard of any cases around here.

Sorry I can't help you with your other problems. I guess I am lucky, I have not had any problems with mine since the day I got it.

1. Going out on a limb but have you gone out to all of manufacturers sites to see if they have updates for the hardware components for your OS? I purchased my laptop from Pro-Star and their drivers are quite out of date. I'd include either Omega's or Driver Modder'ed Catalysts in that list. Have you also updated the bios to 1.04?

Finally I'd suggest downloading and configuring CrystalCPU per the directions in another post on this forum. I've had far fewer lockups since I've been using it than I had previously.

2. I agree that a firmware update may help you with your issue writing to the BenQ DVD's.

3. I've used wireless and bluetooth at the same time and usually don't have any issues. Occasionally a bluetooth device will drop off and need to be repaired but otherwise it works alright together.

I use a bluetooth mouse and wifi together to play Half Life 2 and never had a problem. I also tried to use a Motorola bluetooth headset. The device was detected but I was unable to get any sound. Apparently I needed to re-route the sound thru a com port.

Are you using an Intel 2200 wireless? If so do a search on this forum for previous posts concerning issues with 4750s and this config.

Do any of you hear any high pitched noise or fizzing from your powersupply when it is on and plugged into your laptop?

Right now I'm experiencing the similar problems as the OP, the only way I can run with any stability is with the laptop on battery power.
