Typically I'm not an advocate of a squeaky wheel strategy, but in this case I think Dell was irresponsible in letting such a sub-standard part get into the supply line. Consequently they need to pay the price of receiving a lot of complaints and providing expensive replacements/returns/repairs. In the end you'll get a satisfactory product and they (hopefully) will learn to not make the same mistake again. If they would have acknowledged the problem and replaced my original WUXGA screen as needed, I wouldn't be typing this post on a Sony Vaio right now..
I don't advocate shouting Fire in a croweded Forum, but in this case Dell needs to hear from the people about the problem from so they will fix it by the time my i9300 gets here.
I played with the XBrite WUXGA on a Sony A270 in CompUsa and it spoiled me. (but I can't say I cared for the keyboard much)
C'mon Dell put out a Glossy 17". I am willing to pay more for it.

Well, I think you girls should stop bickering over who's opinion of who's opinion trumps who's other opinion of the other's opinion, IMO, of course.

Though Dell (apparently) denys this is a "problem" they are obviously quite aware of it as they seem to be accomidating everyone's gripe with the particular screen.
I just wonder how much money they lose on a unit by the time they are finished replacing the screen.
My poin t is that you can petition all you want, but I think it's a problem already remedied regarding the WUXGA screens we'll see in future Dell products.

I am really fascinated by human behavior. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly people can become experts based on seeing almost zero data, and then feel free to offer their valuable opinion to the world.

Meat Beater, Dell will replace any LCD on any laptop if you squawk loud enough. You are jumping to the conclusion that they recognize and will happily fix the problem. You are further jumping to the conclusion that they have fixed this problem for any future buyers of future laptops. The data suggests no such thing. Perhaps you should stick to waxing your LCDs.

(I hope you guys are having as much fun as I am with this topic )

If you want to give me one of your Samsung LCDs, I can arrange to let you see a bad one Yes, you're either lucky or you're Australian. Aussies seem to get only Samsungs, but the rest of us only have about a 50% chance. The odds of getting four Samsungs in a row should be about 6.25%. You should consider making a trip to vegas with that kind of luck

So i guess the Dell gods are just looking after me....

In summary, you're full of shit, but I still enjoy reading your posts
Delbert, Is your vocabulary so limited that you must resort to vulgarities to get your point across. That is, if you had a point! Again, you did not read the thread all the way thru. And if you did, you obviously picked me out at random, to be your whipping boy. Maybe you should go back and read the entire thread, to catch the spirit of my posts. You have grossly misinterpreted my comments. Your hostility in this matter is pointless and your perception is skewed. Your remarks about my thoughts on the 9200 screen are completely inept. They are absolute misrepresentations of what I said and what myself and the other posters were talking about. Why are you being so irrational?

Waiting for your next verbal assault!!

My gawd, man, let it rest. My point was simple: you jumped to a wrong conclusion based on a single data point when there was plenty of data available to reach the correct conclusion. I grow weary of repeating this simple point.

If it makes you feel better, I'll concede the point about the paucity of my vocabulary and my vulgar propensity to repeatedly use simple yet potent words like shit. SHIT SHIT SHIT. Ah, that feels better.

dellbert,

I read through old threads here for about a week before I registered. Didn't wanna ask too many noob questions without searching, and waste the precious time of "those in the know", such as yourself.
I was certain by your thread content that you were a very constructive contributer to this board, as I had learned quite a bit from reading your replies.

Unfortunately what I had no idea of was what a complete ass you can be at the drop of a hat. But isn't that always the way on the net?

Now, dickbert, I would like to know just what it was that I said to make you think that I think I'm an expert at something? -Anything at all.

I don't know if your problem is that you are bored, or you simply lack social skills, or something entirely different. But I can assure you, I am here only to learn about laptop computers, share my experiences, read others' experiences, and hopefully converse with nice people.

What is it that you are here for? Certainly not the same things as you already know every****ingthing.

Now we can start over if you like;

"Hello, dellbert. My screen name is "Gold Beater", and I am a "newbie"."
Do you know what a "goldbeater" was? I can tell you if you want to be nice to me.

No, I will not let it rest!! I jumped to NO conclusions. I was stating possibilities. I never came to any conclusion. I never even read your data, and while I am sure you are certain that the data is irrefutable, I highly doubt that any of it was compiled by scientific methods, as this is a very objective matter. I doubt that Dell would pay out on a lawsuit based on your evidence. If you do not concede that it is mainly objective, how do you account for all the posts that say "The sparkle is not that bad" or "It sucked at 1st but I got used to in a few days" and lastly, the people that said that it was ok. You can not just dismiss those people. Not all of them are lying about their experience about the screen Delbert. It may very well be that it is acceptable to some. You belittle them because their opinion differs from yours. I stated clearly that I did not know what to think about the screens because I HAVE NOT SEEN ONE. Again, I WAS POSTING POSSIBILITIES AS I SAW THEM. They were from my point of view, which does not necessarily differ from yours. Chances are that I would agree with the majority in this matter. I was trying to figure out why someone would take a chance on buying a WUXGA, knowing that they had a problem. This is what the person was talking about doing, just before I made the post, that got this all started. Go back and read that Delbert. It is there in plain text. Your attacks on me and others where unfounded. Lastly, your repeated use of expletives is in poor taste, and is not needed at all. I am sure that mom would be proud!!!

Yes, Gold Wanker, I was bored. And, I want to thank you for providing wonderful entertainment to abate my boredom. I could never have imagined that somebody would study the threads on this board for weeks, and then decide to come out and denegrate all those who received crappy LCDs from Dell by spawning a thread entitled "Boo-Hoo, My UXGA sparkles!"

But your hilarity didn't stop there. No, you had to suggest that we wax our LCDs! I tell you, you seriously had me rolling on the floor with that one.

And then to top it off, you proclaimed that the problem was solved, and nobody need worry their pretty little head over it, because you decided that Dell had seen the light.

So, thanks for the laughs, thanks for your wonderful insight after studying the threads here for weeks, and thanks especially for calling yourself Old Beater!

Jesus dellbert, lighten up. These guys didn't do anything wrong. Maybe a couple of their posts could have been worded a bit more carefully but you're really getting carried away.

This thread was all set to be one of the funnier ones that's come along in a while. I was actually looking forward to checking in and reading the replies! But now....I dunno. Seems like everyone is on the rag.

Sorry, guys, it must be my warped sense of humor, but I do find this thread funny. Believe me, I am not the one taking this seriously.

Is that it?
I am getting more popcorn and will be back in a bit.
This thread is more entertaining than TV and this is SciFriday even.

A common passion has brought us all together. Lets not loose sight of it. Our differences keep us from living out an otherwise dull exanstance.

THE i9300 RULES!!!!
