Removable Palm Rest?

Hi all,
Just bought a 5660 and very happy with it. I have a question : There is some dirt and smudges under the palm rest. All I could gather from the manual is that it can be removed. It does not tell how. If any of you have done it, could you please tell me how? Or better post a picture?

Thanks.

Sure, here's some pictures that may help:

First, there's a small lip you can get a knife or small flat head screw driver under (by each ctrl button). Don't pry against the keys, just twist it and the side will pop up. Do the same for the other side.

Here it is popped up.

Then it pulls off toward the user.

It's partially see through so you can put pictures, art, or stickers under it.

PCTORQUE,
Thank you very much for the pics. I was trying to open it from the other side. No wonder I couldn't get it open.
While I was at it I decided to pop open the keyboard (to see if the lighting idea was possible). When I put it back it wouldn't seat properly. It kept poping out everytime I pressed any of the lower row of keys. Apparently, it had slightly bent and fit properly after I *gently* bent it back. Now it fits perfectly.

mine came with the smudge, too.

lol, whoa, that's sweet... I didn't realize how much of that was removeable... And it would be sweet to put pictures under there... If anyone does (like actual photographs of family/friends), maybe post a picture so we can see how transparent it is :-) I like transparency... The keyboard on the 5660 is sweet for that, too. If there were smudges under the palm rest, I suppose that means that Sager themselves put the palm rests on there, and they come without one.

Hmmmmm...............
This gives me an idea. A buddy of mine has a shuttle system with a transparent front and did this:

He had a desktop wallpaper that matched. Basically, he said he just printed out the background with a high quality printer/paper and cut it to fit. The plastic just holds it there.

Can we remove the palm rest on the 8887 also?

painted?

When you get a custom paint job, does the wristpad get painted, or is it still transparent?
