A Fedex question-please help

Hi guys, I'd call in to AW and ask, but seeing as how I won't be able to for awhile and I really really need to know I'm asking you guys.

I'm currently living temporarily in England while my wife completes an assignment here. We shuttle back and forth between NY and London quite often but I foresee a problem.

At this point all of our US mail is collected and sent to us from a postal collection point. This is the delivery address for my AW pc. I am leaving for the states on Friday but am sure the Alienware will not be ready ( P5 as of today) to be shipped.

My question is: do myself or my wife need to be physically present when it is delivered by Fedex? Or can we leave a letter stating that they ahve permission to sign for it?

We scheduled this trip so as to be in NY when the machine is shipped but it looks at this point highly unlikely.

Any suggestions?

I would contact AW and explain the problem..ask them for suggestions and/or maybe they would ship, at your cost, overnight to the UK...obviously they do not do this regularly but if your willing to pre-pay then they might consider it...hope you can work this out as I know how anxious you are to get that bad boy in your hands

I don't know. Alienware is pretty strict about shipping procedures. and the procedures are based on experience and for your own security. They take this so serious that they have a specialized department (ouside of the shipping dept.) within Alienware Corp. that follows each delivery. There are other members of this forum that are familiar with this type of thing that might be able to offer advice but it might be better to send a message to Alienware-JuanG (or Steve) and see if they can get you some info from the right department within Alienware.

Ya I dont know I think someone has to be present to sign. With something this expensive I dont know if its worth it for them to believe some note that anyone could have written I would call in and see what they suggest.

Thanks guys

I have pm'd Steve and Juan-G and will see what their advice is.

Someone does need to be present to sign for it at the delivery address, but it doesn't have to be the person on the invoice.

My wife has signed for stuff sent to me, and vice versa.

They just need to be able to prove the machine was delivered.

You're spot-on Hammer!

I managed to get through to AW support and a kind gentleman there was able to put my mind at ease. Then Juan-G pm'd me to confirm.

I am SOOOOO relieved.
