merging ntfs parts

yeah, i just bought a new 60 gb drive and i decided to partition it with 40 (xp) and 20 (for linux), but now it appears that i don't have to have a separate partition for linux. Besides, i think that was a bit graceous. At the current time, windows is installed on the 40 gb part, and the 20 has not been even formatted yet. I want to make my hard drive a single 60 gb partition. do i have to reformat and reinstall everything, or is there some way to bring them together??

From what I have been told partition magic is the go.
But it costs $.
Try google I am sure there is a freeware equivalent.

Why do you say you don't have to have a seperate partition for Linux?
Do you mean you are no longer using linux or have you found some magic way to incorporate it into NTFS?

oh. i didn't know that fact about not being able to incorporate it. I just thought that i could, and then it would make more sense. My idea is that the 60 gb drive would work more efficiently if it was one solid partition rather than being chopped up. what does anyone think about that?

btw aussie, i dnidn't know you got another 8890?? is it the 15 inch screen or 16"?

I think the only way you can incorporate a Linux partition under NTFS is via vmware
http://www.vmware.com/products/desktop/ws_features.html

With vmware you effectively emulate a Linux computer on top of your windows os.

As to "mobius" my second 8890 yes it is a 16" SXGA the same as my beloved "antonov".
Got it on ebay for $US1377.
Just finished dropping in a 3.2GHz CPU (it was a 2.8GHz). Have to order some disk brackets and a bluetooth module for it.
Next thing is fit it with the NEC ND-6500A DL DVD writer and to wait for Seagate to release those 100GB 7200RPM disks they have been promising for sooooo long.

Bought it to provide business continuity. Only issue I now have to solve is how to handle a bare metal restore on the second laptop.
