9860 Wuxga Shipping Soon!!!!!

Hypersonic lists the WUXGA screen as Ltd. Avl. When contracted they said that the WUXGA screen's will ship from them in March.

Voodoo says that they are selling out fast. They expect some in next week. Expect 50 days to ship.

I'd be careful before paying interest on a credit card waiting for one of these. Eurocomm has been promising a WUXGA 9860 since November. Once somebody receives a UPS tracking number, that will be the time to get excited.

Any information on PC-torque getting the WUXGA screen? The wait is killing me to order this beast.

I'm sure Sager will be shipping with it at the same time all other Clevo brands are. If you're expecting it to be as good as the current WSXGA+ LCD (ghosting, contrast, brightness, and viewing angle) you MAY be in for a surprise/let down.

Higher resolution has almost NOTHING to do with which is the better LCD.

OoOoOo the inside source has spoken.
I guess adam means that small type and miniscule graphics are even more diminished by such a high resolution.

adam, I know you might have read the 6xx thread...so will we be seeing these in the 9860? Or is it thermically impossible?

Try to stay on topic with the tread, makes it easier to address all questions at once in one thread. When we have an update on the 6xx series processor we will release it on the forums.

Maybe you should post a daily update stating "There are no currently no updates about upcoming Sager releases. As soon as releasable information is obtained a new update will be posted."

Wouldn't me not posting imply there are no new updates . At that rate i would be replying in like 8 different threads a day with product updates that could be months off !!

Adam....does this mean that you have seen it? On hypersonic's info page about it they list it as:

1920x1280
Contrast Ratio: 400:1

Viewing Angle: 90/120

Response Time: 25 ms

these specs r the same as the WSXGA. please let us know what you know about it! i would hate to pay $250 more for a screen that is not as good. i guess i will probably just keep this in my order until the new P4's come out and then I will cancel the WUXGA so that it ships sooner with the new 64bit.

Well, the best thing I can really say or recommend would be for you to get the model number from Hypersonic of the LCD they are going to put in your laptop, then look up what other brands use that model. You will then be able to look up people's opinions of that LCD on that brand of laptop and have a better idea of what you're getting into.

There are too many things up in the air right now to be able to address it very well.

Best answer to any questions is: "We can neither confirm or deny."

Er, yes, I was being facetious, sorry. Ok, I was really being sarcastic because I see about 10 posts a day, every day, all asking when this and that are coming out.

Would you still do it, just so we can be sure?

Sager's official word on the 17" WUXGA:

We are unsure how these rumors were started on the release of the 17” WUXGA this past week considering Clevo (Taiwan) has been closed for the Chinese New Year vacation.

Sager has reviewed the 17” WUXGA screens that have been in testing and they have noticed that the screen shows a heavy, unintended sparkling pixel effect. Since it does not meet minimum standards of quality control, they have decided not to carry this screen.

Different sources of 17” WUXGA screen will be placed into testing phase ASAP by Clevo. No further details including when and if they will be offered can be provided until these new screens have been reviewed and tested by Sager.

Very interesting, same thing many of the Dell customers are complaining about in their

BTW, happy year of the green wooden chicken.

I am willing to bet that it was the SAME LG philips screen that Dell has been using on most of their 9200's (with the horrible sparkle effect).
