RAID configuration, worth it ?

I have some questions for those who have raid-configured laptops:

Is it worth it ? Do you notice any difference in speed ?
Is the installation smooth ? Is it difficult to install ?

And general questions:
Is it possible to install a second harddrive and use raid AFTER windows was installed ? Will I have to reinstall everything ?

What would boost speed (mainly for gaming purposes), adding more memory (from 512 to 1GB) or adding another HD and making it raid

(when I said raid, I mean that hard drive configuration where data is split between both HDs to speed data access... I don't know if that is raid0 or raid1 or whatever else..)

Thanks for any help.

Is it possible to install a second harddrive and use raid AFTER windows was installed ? Only if the single drive configuration was RAID-0. Will I have to reinstall everything ? Yes if the first drive was not RAID-0.

Thanks ever-willing-to-help G-Omaha. You are the best in this forum. (NO sarcasm)

I guess I will go with more memory, it is the most indicated option (not only here).
