No, the one I saw was on a macintosh website... Im trying to remember where.... But this card carries 32MB of memory and looks good for a possible 3rd monitor solution...

I just searched in google for pcmcia video card...

I appreciate your support. im going to start from ground one and see if I can get it again. Start with my old working desktop bios'. get 9 pipes again.... lol

hey whack,

can you send me your 9 pipe bios? i'd like to see what you did. also can you send me these values from atitool when holding shift and clicking on settings when using an original 9800 bios and your modded one?

CONFIG_DIE_FUSES
CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES
CONFIG_ROM_FUSES
GB_PIPE_SELECT

specifically i'm look to see if something in your modded bios match some of the values from atitool.

and did you ever get the remote pc thing to work?

I bought a cheap 6200 nvidia card for my media PC and unlocked 4 additional pipes using riva tuner and the hardware masks. Damn, it was so easy, wish the ATI cards worked like that.

I now have a $100 card that can pull 18000 3dmark 2001 runs on my A64 @ 2.7 GHz.

havent got the new card in yet... taking a while so the pc anywhere trick hasnt been tried yet. As far as the 9 pipe bios... ATI Tool registered 9 pipes after I custom flashed the Desktop X800 bios I have from line 1536 on. Flashing this way allowed me to keep the port settings and other needed parts. And dont flash in the 500-600 line area as card failure will result. So that would mean that the port code/pipe code lies within the first 2000 lines. I also custom modded the bios with Rabit to insure proper memory timings, etc... hope that wasnt greek...

i grabbed ati's x800 pro 256 mb bios from techpowerup.com. here's the filename "ATI.X800PRO.256.Samsung20.040408.bin" - released 4/8/04 & supports 2.0 ns samsung memory

i've edited the memory timings and underclocked it to 351/297 which is the stock speed of my m9800. the x800 pro bios however was missing a few memory variables. specifically, "memory refresh rate - MemRR=30" and "refresh row cycle time - tRFC=17"

i've posted the modded x800 bios here. please check my work. i used rabit1.7.

i don't suppose you can give me a hexidecimal offset of where line 1536 is? that way, i can frankenstein the bios for others to try.

Have you tried comparing the x800 desktop bios with an x800 mobile bios and see the differences? And then compare with 9800? Like a three way comparison.
Do you have an X800 mobile bios? If you go to the alienware forum, someone can send his to you.

damn... if we could all just be in the same room for a day....

as far as the bios... im offline for a few days until the 9800 arrives, then I will reflash those bios' and make sure which one it is... then I will share with you all.. I just dont want to send you all the bios i flashed from line 6xx... it will kill your card.

thanx again... dont want to sound like a broken record.. hopefully dell will get the new one on its way soon. They are backordered till the 18th.

Maybe I should do a round of 9700 benchies and see if I can take some records while im down... hee hee..
