Anyone install the new drivers yet? And does it fix the blotchy issue on the the 8890s if you have installed.

I hate to sound like a moron (I'm kind of new to the laptop scene) but I thought that the unified 3.7 drivers wouldn't work on a laptop GPU.

Can anyone help me out here?

they will, its just that there is a little trick to get them to work. Since ati doesnt offically support their mobile cards driver, they just rely on the manufacture of the notebook to supply the drivers. If you run the 3.7 installation program, it should extract some files to a folder, then it will give an error during the installation. Those files that were extracted are the actual drivers that the computer needs to update the video card. I keep on hoping that they support the mobility radeon every time they release a driver

Do you know how to get the files that extract to work without the autoinstaller?

http://talknotebooks.com/showthread....=&postid=23164 should be at the middle of the first page.

This should tell you how to do it. Hope your performance increases

I'll repeat a question earlier-- has anyone tried this with the 8890? Maybe I'll just try it myself and post.

Thanks

the catalyst 3.7 drivers r the same as the 7.93's for the 8890s. if u take a look at the driver version for the 7.93s in the hardware profile u get version 6.14.10.6378. take a look here:

http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/w...18&submit.y=11

same display driver version. so basically we got them a week earlier than everyone else(well for the ones who got their notebook earlier)

200th post..woot
