AW Order Change

Hi kids

Phoned up AW Uk today to try and make some changes to my order and was pretty annoyed at the stupid system they are running! Im currently only on phase 6, but it has taken me 2 weeks to get there. They are now telling me that if i want to upgrade my warranty from 1 to 3 years my order will go back to phase 3.

I understand that when you make a hardware change they obviously need to re-check the hardware and the new configuration, but surely i should be able to upgrade my warranty at anytime! Has anyone had this sort of stupid experience with AW before? Hopefully i can convince the lovely people at AW not to shift my order back to phase 3, I CANT HANDLE ANOTHER WEEK WITHOUT MY ALIENWARE!!!!!

jafpunker, Have you sent a private message to your Alienware UK Rep? I really hope they can help you out. I'm not familiar with the process they have but I agree a warranty upgrade shouldn't set you backwards. But it also could be a quick bounce back to get verified and then set back to your current phase. good luck!

cheers aurora! i've messaged it (he / she?), hopefully they can sort something out! Cant wait to find out how good AW reps actually are! The lovely lady on the phone didn't seem to understand that upgrading the warranty shouldn't set back my order!

Maybe they run special testing on the paper they print the warranty on, benchmarks, temps, etc.

Or maybe its a conspiracy! What if AW are secretly installing faulty hardware in the 1 year warranty machines which only fails after the warranty is up? then they make extra money with the labour charge for the repairs! Thats why my order has to start again, so they can stick some parts in that they know wont break for 3 years.

this book is coming along nicely. might have to get mike moore to do me a chapter about how alienware ruined his home town of flint, michigan. oh, and how AW are to blame for his small penis and weight problem.

I don't know about all these conspiracies ... but I did hear about this website from this company ... had a weird-sounding name: Alene's-Warez, or something like that: apparently it had a small other-world-looking head as a logo with eyes that sent specially encoded rays that affected a certain group of restless souls who had a propensity for the biggest-baddest-kit out there. I know it sounds far-fetched, but I heard it hypnotised masses of people to abandon all rationality, sell their grannies and buy this kit then slowly tortured them by slowly ticking them through "phases" that were created by a random number generator stored in a secret location... I dunno I think it is nuts myself but ... what's that noise? ... oh hell ... there's someone coming up the stairs................

ARGH!!!!!!!! Why do i get the feeling DB is behind all of this? Its like being stuck in some sick big brother style forum. i keep seeing a little midget outside my door with a large black alienware box, i run out of my padded cell and he's gone.

help me please. they're coming for me.

Well, i've bitten the bullet! After numerous phone calls and emails AW UK say that any warranty upgrade will set your order back to phase 3! Im currently 2 weeks into my order so im a bit bummed about this.

On the bright side it meant i may as well upgrade to have the extra optical drive in my laptop, so thats exactly what i've done! only an extra £200 for the warranty and CD drive upgrade. bargain.

I'm going to call AW and see if they will bump my order up the que slightly, seeing as one of the 'delayed' screens was set by for me anyway. Seems a bit unfair to send me to the back of the screen que, but i'll have that argument on Monday! On the plus side i did speak to a very helpful woman called Rachel so i'll be asking for her when i call in the future!

I'll keep you posted on the phase / upgrade craziness!
