A month for a corporate client or anyone? - Page 2

Craig, it has zero to do with how anyone pays for it. This is a company purchase so I couldn't really care less.

This is an inventory issue and some seem to accept it without reproach which for the life of me I don't understand. These companies don't want to warehouse product. It's not because manufacturers revise product too often it is because they don't want to carry the burden of inventory. Why should they when they have a public waiting like sheep to pay they expenses? This can't be explained away by "well they are boutique". I deal with other "boutique" products in the market place and none (repeat none) work with JIT deliver of parts. They keep a small cash and order as used to refill stock. These small companies created the term "boutique" to get us to believe these practices can be justified and are acceptable.

There is no "technical' reason why this is. It is pure dollars and cents and THAT is why I have a problem. Carry XX amount of each in case of supplier failures. Again, holding me responsible for supplier issues is bogus.

Ferrari??? Not a great analogy since no one out there makes Ferraris' or anything similar. With the exception of the lid of the book the 7700 looks just like an Sagar. Ferrari makes everything accept the rubber in their cars. They cast everything from the ground up. I am fine with that. I will pay for that up front because the parts aren't readily available in the market place. Also there is no where else to get a Ferrari. AW is buying components and putting them together. By the way the "pay up front" is for the Enzo. You can still walk into a Ferrari dealer and buy a Spider off the lot.

Holding the buyer accountable for their lack of warehousing is ridiculous. I was willing to go the month begrudgingly. Well the month is up. I paid for this system the 13th of January. It is the 11th of February and I am still in Phase 8. It hasn't even started build yet.

Davenit, what kind of computer did you get, if it was the ALX Aurora SLI rig everyone who on phase 8 should be going into production by Monday, thats what AW Rep Melvin told me today when i gave him a call asking the same question why was my computer still in phase 8. Because i have been in phase 8 for about a week in 4 or 5 days now!!!

they were doing the Validation of the motherboards becuase they had just got then in somedays ago so by monday production time !!!!!

What have AW reps said about it?

I give up.

Bottom-line is - you didn't research this decision. AW has this process, it is a well-documented frustrating process - if you did read the small-print etc etc why are you complaining?

Well apparently nobody takes the time to research before they drop a few grand on a computer anymore.

And apparently we all have it sooo bad that we can afford AW and (god forbid) have to wait a little longer than expected to get our laptops and must complain about it...As opposed to all the starving children around the world that can't afford a damn thing.

Your adding a lot here express. What kind of useless comments are those? Because there are starving children in the world my concerns about my money and my expectations from a company I purchased something from should be nullified? If that were true all materialistic issues would be non-existant and the worlds progression would have stopped long, long ago.

One has nothing to do with the other. I go to church, I contribute to many charities and spent time recently in India helping with relief aid. Now does this give me a right to speak up? Probably not in your mind even though I have negated your argument.

Dont' like this thread? Fine. Don't try to discredit me or my concerns because you don't. I am proud of myself and my accomplishments in my life. I have worked long and hard for it and I help out my community as much as I possibly can. I refuse to feel guilty for it as your post would have me feel.

Its ok to have gripes about one thing or another. Everybody acts and reacts differently is different situations so this is just one of those cases where there are a number of ways to look at things. No one is really wrong but its good to know that Alienware steps up in an unofficial forum and offers assistance to their customers. This is an amount of support that some can only complain about but most really understand as going above and beyond anything that can be expected.

Agreed. And I really, really appreciate it. Richards asstance here is greatly appreciated especially after my less than flattering comments. But they weren't personal, they were business and I would love to continue this conversation with those at AW.

I just dont think ad hominem attacks are mandated in an open forum. Having different opinions is one thing and debating them is cool, resorting to calling people whiners and likening them to self involved materialist children isn't retorting a comment, it is attacking the commentor.

davenit aside, i do hope all others considering other options do indeed follow those inclinations. maybe i'll get mine quicker. to those of you who maintain, salute!

Davenit,

I'm not trying to tear you down or any such negative thing. My intention is to stress that, whether you realize it or not, the entire country works with a JIT inventory...go to Walmart, they turn the avg product in a matter of days, go to your grocery store and its even quicker.

My company ships about a million dollars worth of product every other day. We're the largest distributor in our industry...and we absolutely do not stock anything we don't have to even though we have over one million sq feet of warehouse space on two coasts. It's just that kind of world man...I'm not saying I like it or not...it is what it is and the computer game is no different.

Hopefully Richard can get you straightened out. Most of the people here are taking a shot here or there at you only b/c your initial post was quite negative towards AW and many of us have seen/had AW bend over backwards (ala Richard helping you) to keep their customers happy.

Once you've had the red carpet treatment, you'll find yourself defending them just as much as we all do Trust me, they do a great job!
