3. on your lappie, make sure your wireless device is the corresponding 802.11b/g. intel 2200 allows you to select 802.11b and g, 802.11g only...so there may be problem with that...it is also the reason why you may be not getting connection.
4. also what kind of router do you have? if you have something with super transmit like 108Mbps stuff, you might have to configure it to broadcast appropriately. i just went through this problem with a netgear router.
5. some routers have problems with b and g accessing at the same time, so make sure the configurations are correct....
6. if you have mac filter enabled, make sure you have the correct mac address (run from cmd ipconfig /all on your lappie to find it)
7. i would delete your home network in the preferred networks box under wireless properties, and reenter the connection. first, have the CSID on your router broadcasted until you can connect with your lappie. i have found that especialy with the linksys routers, that i had problems connecting initially from my lappie when i first set it up. once i had established the connection in the perferred settings, i disabled CSID broadcast.
8. my best guess would be that there is an incompatibility between what your router is transmitting (i.e. wirless b) and your laptop is set at (wireless g only). or that you set up transmit rate at 54Mbps rather than auto select.

Thanks for the detailed reply.
1- The network here doesn't require any secutiry or password.
2- "on your router, make sure you are broadcasting the right 802.11b/g" I don't know how to do it. The router was installed once a year ago by the internet company, and since then everything is working fine.
3- "on your lappie, make sure your wireless device is the corresponding 802.11b/g" Yes it is both
4- The router is an Intel wireless router and it was installed by the company. I don't have any knowledge about routers
5- same as above
6- I typed ipconfid/all in the command console, and this is what I got:
C:\>ipconfig/all

7- I deleted it. I had to check "use Windows to configure my wireless network settings". Now I don't know how to add it

, but it's still in the "Available networks" box.
8- "set up transmit rate at 54Mbps rather than auto select" Where is that? On my Laptop or in the laptop?
