Pentium 4 6XX series RELEASED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Page 3

When someone posts success with the pentium 4 6XX series and the 9860 I will be ordering a 9860! I gather the new 6XX series is a true 64 bit processor like the amd64? Does anyone know if intel is going to release a more advanced 64-bit processor in the future? Is the new 6xx series of processors better on heat loss (saving battery power) or are they hotter than the Prescott p4's? And the final question, can the user install the new 6xx processor in the 9680 or will it require being sent back to sager? I wonder how much the price will increase on the 9860 if 6xx processors are compatible.

The new 6xx series contains a better form of the E0 and other functions found in the 570J. Meaning that it runs as cool or cooler than the 570J and is defintitly cooler than the 560/540. Basecally all that clevo/eurocom/sager/hypersonic/etc need to do is get them in stock and ship them out. they may require a bios update to support it, but that is not confirmed yet.

-apparantly before intel "launches" a product, they want it widely available. so basecally, by december 20 it should be widely available and they will probably have some sort of press release/site update. it will probably say something like "available immediatly" or something like that.
-i expect that atleast eurocom will have some info on it this coming week, and we will probably have the option to have it in the systems on the week of the 21st.

if you scroll down to the bottom of that site, you'll notice that they say you need an EM64T intel enabled BIOS (so that's almost definately a yes on that BIOS update)

From what I read on internet. 6XX is a lot hotter than any 5XX CPU.
Intel pack in new heat stink (more powerful one and bigger) to cool this CPU down.
6XX also use more battery power (130W V.S 110W)
The review site is in chinese and said this CPU is super hot, this new speed step doesn't help much.

since i cant read chinese....does it say anything about improved performance compared to the 5xxx model? is there a percentage thrown in that review you can read?

How do you know the 6xx series will not work in the 9860? Is there a link about this? the inquier link will not load for me. what is the 5x1 series and where can i find more info about it?

There is nothing in the article to indicate that they will not work in the 9860. As a matter of fact, the article says that there will soon be 500 series chips that will be 64 bit. The only difference is the amount of cache, 2mb in the 600 series. Surely the extra cache would not cause the chip to run so much hotter?!

It will run hotter. The only difference between an EE and normal Northwood before was just the extra cache, but there was a difference in temps.

Sager has announced they are testing the Intel 600 series processor for support, but until Intel has made their official announcement/launching they will have no further information to disclose.

I hope it will work. I will buy a 9860 if it will ship with an intel 64-bit 6XX. UNLESS a amd 64-bit system like the 9860 is out by the end of May. Also if Sager adds a PCI Express card like the ATI X800 to their 4750 that system would also be an option.

Luke,
I noticed on eurocom they now offer the

"256MB GDDR3 nVidia Quadro FX GO 1400 (NV41GLM 12L); OpenGL; 16x PCI Express; VGA Module"

but it is a 4 week delay and costs an extra $500.00.

Any info on this card or links to check it out. I'm sure PC Torque will be adding it as soon as it comes out! PC Torques prices are much lower than eurocoms and hopefully this upgrade would be lower priced when/if offered by PCTorque.

Also they list some future models like an new athlon 64 system coming out; the D400J. It appears it dosen't include a pci express module but has some different amd processors offered.

I hope these are not the only new models coming out in the near future.

We still do not have any information on this card or pricing.

u would think that intel would want to get their 64 bit processors out right away and announce it as soon as possible even if it is premature in order to stiffen up the competition with amd, but nooooooo intel likes to wait around and play darts while all of us wait here.

CMON INTEL!!!! ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE SO THAT WE CAN FINALLY GET IT!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.intel.com/intel/finance/pricelist/

this intel site claims that all of the current 5xx series sould sport the letter J after them by now. All of them should contain the new features of the 3.8ghz 570J.

What's the deal with this? Why are all the laptop companies offering the 570J only and not 560J and 550J ?

----o well....i guess its useless for them to look into this because probably nobody cares at this point! as long as they come out with either 551, 561, 571, 640, 650, 660 I will be happy.

More info on the intel 64-bit 6xx.

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=19968
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=20824

The first article even states:

"The processors will be compatible with the 915/925 Express chipsets and future chipsets codenamed Glenwood and Lakeport. They will also include a better "Halt State" for power management when PCs are idling, and a fresh version of Speedstep technology."

Slap a 6xx processor in a 9860 its sold! 64-bit ready powerhouse! i hope. i hope!
