Installing RAM in 8600

Is it easy to do? Anyone got instructions on doing it safely?

It's incredibly easy. Just remove the back panel and carefully tilt the RAM and slide it into the slot.

Done!

Don't forget to turn the machine off too :-)

I usually remove the battery, as a simple precaution. Here, follow this Dell link's instructions. It will put your mind at ease.

go to CNET or PCworld. I beleive they have a video of this type of upgrade. Turn off system, locate and remove back panel. ground yourslef as the ram is ESD sensitive (static). Tilt and slide ram into position. Replace cover. power it up. Check system setting to verify it is seeing the new ram. USe computer. BIG SMILE !
