love my 4060

I got my 4060 about a month ago and I have had no problems at all. It does everything I need and more. I was replacing a sony grv670 which also had the m9 64mb video card and this seems much faster during game play. My system is 2.8ghz 512mb 40gb. Oh yah I have 2 dead pixels but they are not really noticeable.

i've had some problems with my 4060 crashing. it usually only happens when i'm playing games. I'm positive its because of heat, i put a fan right next to my comp and turned it on all the way and now its fine. I've noticed my fan doesn't run all the time when i'm playing games so i think thats the issue. with a comp this size and has a normal P4 the fan should be running full speed, at least while playing games.

Dom02, I would get your system checked out. BOTH of my 4060s run the fan incessantly when I am taxing the systems heavily. You may have a defective system therm sensor. Don't hesitate to get it fixed or you may be very sorry in the near future.

As far as problems, I have had none. Moth of my machines are screaming fast and completely stable. Getting the right video drivers will help your stability in Windows, but I use linux... so no problems here.

Coming Tommorow

I ordered my 4060 last week. Trust me this is a great laptop for an extremely nice price. I heard good things about it and decided to go ahead and order it. I ordered the C class w/ wireless intergrated due to the fact that Im only using it in my high school. But overall i think its a nice laptop. One question though..Cant you operate this laptop on your lap or will it overheat?

I wouldn't recommend using this laptop on you lap considering the fan(s) are on the underside. My solution was to buy one of those padded lap desk's that you can get at home furnishing stores (Linens'n'Things where I am) that has a nice hard surface just big enough to sit in your lap and give a nice hard surface for tha laptop to sit on.

you can put it on your lap with no problems, you just got to pay attention to where the fan is.

make sure you clean your fan and exhaust regularly, dust and other build up was responciable for my system overheating. it also forced the fan to run full speed all the time. after cleaning its hardly ever gone full speed even.

This is very true. I had exactly the same problem. Seems like it needs to be cleaned pretty regularly, of course depending on how dusty the environment you use it in most happens to be.
