all I can say is HOLY MOTHER OF GOD! PLEASE HAVE MY CHILDREN! I was at best buy tonight looking at these and they are absolutely fantastic, if you haven't seen one in person go look. I was quite impressed with teh build of the toshiba, only problem is the 17" widescreen model comes with a 5200go in it...otherwise I might have bought it on the spot..

...must...wait...for..8890...

I think hp pavilion zd7000us look much better. Toshiba is too big, too thick.

I started to look at the 17" monster from Toshiba but came to the conclusion I didn't want the flight deck of an aircraft carrier on my desk. On top of that I felt I needed to break out the cutlery, napkin and salt/pepper shakers before sitting down in front of that silver topped platform for dinner (great front row seats to watch the movie tho )

I found the edges where your wrists go were not bevelled/curved down, they just sort of stopped at a sharp drop (hence my reference to flight decks). I think my hands would have the blood flow cut off before too long.

Nice try Toshiba, but give me an 8890 any day for real work.

i think toshiba sells a piano stand for this lappy

how long till we have a 19" lappy?

I agree, the Toshiba is way too bulky. That is not to say that other 17" inchers arent worth looking at. The HP ZD700 is nicer than that.

If your like me, you'll go with a voodoo or hypersonic 17". They are damn thin. By October they will have the same model as the Eurocom d470, which in my opinion beats the pants off all other 17"ers.

i just managed to snag one of these babies, and i must say im not dissapointed at all. 17 inch screen is beautiful. mine is 2.4ghz pentium 4 with ht- and windows xp pro. of course the go 5200 is a bit outdated, but it does support dx9 and will still be good for many upcoming games. mine has 512mb of ddr mem, and is expandable to 2048mb of mem. i have it sitting next to my 3000 dollar desktop and i have to say that if i had to choose between the 2, id go with the p25. it is just outstanding. not to mention, i only paid 1500 for it at circuit city (they had a sale going on plus a 250 dollar rebate (150 from circuit city and 100 from toshiba). anyway, it runs battlefield 1942 as smooth as butter, no chop whatsoever. such a gem, i was lucky to get it so cheap. go labor day sales!!!!! plus with the screen size i was able to bring it up to my room and use it as a mini home theatre for dvds (earlier today with my friends). you have to see this pc to believe it. well im done, maybe i can get some pics of it up later (my digital cam is kinda messed up) but take my word for it, beautiful. by the way, imo wasnt at all heavy (i carried it out to my car with 2 other things on top of its box and it was not the least bit painful, maybe im just too strong?
go toshiba!
