I recently purchased the VGN-FS550, formatted, did a clean install of XP Pro, but when I try to install the drivers from Sony's site, I run into a problem. All of the drivers and software installs correctly except for the audio drivers. It says it installs, but the audio still never works. In the device manager it lists a PCI Device with no controlling drivers, which I assume is my phantom sound card.
And of course, Sony doesnt say what type of sound card it is, except for the fact that it's a RealTek. When I ask their tech support about it, they say since I installed my own XP and didn't use the one that came with the laptop, they won't help me. They also say that the sound card is "an unpublished technical specification" and won't tell me anythign else.
Anyone else had any problems like this with the audio? If you did, how'd you get around it and get the sound working on it?
