question about 2 hard drives

im planning on buying a 40gb 7200 rpm HD and i will get the enclosure also. my question is if i put both hard drives at the same time, will win xp recognize the drive right away and give me an extra drive letter under my computer? im planning on copying my 40gb 5400rpm drive into the new one then placing the new one internal and the old in the enclosure. i will be using casper xp.

You might have to initialize the drive as noted here:

I know this is for the modular enclosure but it is probably the same way if the enclosure is attached via firewire or usb.

I have 2 60gb drives and I am currently using a USB 2.0 caddy to run it off of. I am looking into the "caddy" that dell sells to improve my performance.... Other than that, It works great...

I have installed mine without any problems. I Just put it in the d-bay and that's it.
