Every time I disconnect the power cord, my screen goes into wierd patterns and freezes. No warnings, nothin... just freezes and then i have to reboot with the cord plugged in, or else it'll just do it right over again as soon as windows is loaded. A05 bios, does same thing with or without latest omegas.
Plz dont say formatt the HD, I just installed everything I need. BLEHHH!!!

Mine did the same thing when I had the last version (before the latest) Omega drivers installed. I now have the official Cats installed via the mod, and it hasn't happened since.

that would be powerplay taking affect. Go into the display properties in the advanced portion and disable it. Then you shouldn't have that problem anymore.

Er, I have powerplay enabled on mine right now and unplug it quite often when it's turned on, with no problems...

Does it look like this?

TADAAAA!!! worked beautifully. It was set to minimal performance, I just switched it to optimal and bling bling. Now we're in business! Thanx alot everyone.

I think this is caused by powerplay downclocking the GPU a bit too much to the point where it cannot do it's job correctly.

That's not really a resolution unless you don't ever plan to use PowerPlay (then why did you buy a laptop?).

This may be caused by overclocking utilities such as ATI Tool or specific versions of ATI Tool....

I have the same thing happening on my 600m system sometimes when I plug in or unplug the power cord with the system running. Using omega drivers 2.5.9. Have not found a sure way to reset that distortion without restarting but it sometimes goes away (or partially) if close the lid and re-open it.

Briandl, Lots of people get laptops and disable powerplay. IMO, it is no good. Using it, I only get an added 10 min tops to my battery life. I would rather take a hit on battery life to keep up performance. Also, the XPS/9100 arn't known for their battery life so if somone is so concerned about battery life, then maybe the XPS/9100 isn't right for them.

Because I live in a small, cramped dorm room 400 miles from my home. I like a mobile pwn station that I can take with me on my travels.

And yes, powerplay is the devil. It should be disabled.

Yeah, turning on powerplay could up my battery life from 90 minutes to something like 94 minutes! You're totally right. This thing now makes my 9100 as good as a mobility model.

I got the same problem as the picture above, but a lot worse and on the whole screen with my mr 9800 when I tried to untick the setting "enable clock rate change" from rad linker (so that I can disable it).

So is this a software problem that can be fixed or a hardware one and we just have to live with it? Definitely seems like the former. Will have to head over to omega drivers forum to check it out - Windows Radeon Display Drivers Forum
