Got a good eBay deal on a 8600 - Page 2

Dells are almost always cheap on eBay. What happens is that Dell has some blowout sale, people buy the Dells thinking they can make a fortune on eBay, and the market becomes flooded with them, and prices drop like a rock.

Dell recently had some blow-out sales of 9200's in the outlet. Those guys should be hitting eBay any day now.

Not bad at all. I'd say the dell outlet price on that would be around 1700 if you got the specials they've had lately, such as 400 off plus 10 or 15%.

Strangely-enough, it appears the 9200's currently have better deals at dell outlet, even without disounts, than the 8600's.

Got my 9200 from the outlet and it came with a surprise..Cherrywood Quicksnap cover. I dont really care for it.. the girl likes it but I dont know.. i like 'em naked.

EBay removes items a few days after they have been sold. (why would they store items that are no longer for auction?)

That's totally false, they keep all listings for ninety days.

Something else is going on that the auction was removed. What is the guys username on eBay?

The sale on my second 9200 which was completed on 12/31 is still posted

I saw the auction and it and the seller looked legit. Only thing iffy was the wording was kinda weird. I think thats why the auction ended so low, probably scared away lot of people. Awesome deal though. No way even a Dell with all those options should go that cheap.

Here's a similar config that went for $1050. Only diff is 512MB and CD/RW instead of 1GB and DVDRW.

hdd isn't 7200rpm and no blue tooth

Total, thats a big price difference. DVD drive was a $150+ upgrade, HDD was about +$100, Ram was another $200 or more and bluetooth was another $50. Thats over $500 in extras, so no way should that other laptop sold for as low as it did.

Actually, it went for $1100 shipped.

I believe I know why the old auction went for so cheap. The guy used "8600c" in his title. Perhaps that b0rked the search pattern of prospective buyers.

That's possible. I've gotten some great deals due to mispellings in the title. My point was that good deals happen all the time on eBay. You just have to hope you're on the buy side rather than the sell side when they happen

On top of that the seller was from hte UK. I know that scares off a LOT of prospective American buyers.
