I did some searching and this is what i came up with.

Benchmarks

Pentium M 1,73GHz, 1Gb Ram, go 6600 @ 375/300 vs (Acer TM8104)

3dmark 05 1024*768
x700 2376go 6600 2275
3dmark 03 1024*768
x700 5918go 6600 5698

-------------------------------

Doom3 HQ 1024*768Doom 3 1024*768 no aa/aniso
go 6600 61 FPSx700 41,1 FPS
HL2 HQ 1024*768
go 6600 77 FPSx700 70 FPS
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So, even with a 1,7 Dothan it clearly outperforms the x700/TM8104.
Im lucky i didnt order a TM8104 quite yet!

Can you format your post better, please?

Yep, the 6600 is one awesome graphic card.

There was nothing clear about that post. As Tommi suggested, link to the article and format the results to be readable.

Here are some GeForce go 6600 benchmarks I found anyway: http://hardware.gamespot.com/Story-ST-x-1485-x-x-x

Although you can't compare benchmarks unless you are 100% sure that both of them had everything run at the exact same settings. Even if the slower clocked system w/the 6600 beat the x700, we don't know if all the video settings were the same in the benchmarks. But, I'm sure we'll see more reviews soon.

your post does not prove anything although I have been thinking about getting the acer 8104 and would like to know how you came by with the results.

Go NV, alway knew they were the better of the two.
Nvidia wins in Doom 3 because the game is optimized for it. Other than that, where's the clear result? ATi wins in in 3DMarks if I understood your post right, and HL2 is relatively close with a 7 fps difference to Nvidia's favor. All in all, that's even rather than one outperforming another.

Isn't 3D Mark ATI biased or nVidia biased? I remember reading it was one of those, and remember HL-2 is ATI optimized.
It depends on the version of 3DMark. Each version just ends up running better on one card (and cpu) or another. I don't think it's intentional optimizing though. If you look at the top 10 or whatever of each version you can see the details.

are there any laptops coming out soon that will use the 6600 go? soon as in like the next month....

futuremark trys very hard to maintain an even Keel in their 3d mark benchmarks, however nVidia are notorious cheaters in the benchmark, they have been caught at least a half dozen times, commonly cheating so badly that future mark has had to create a new build of their benchmark to disable nvidia cheats which have included partial prendering, forced different rendering paths, forced FP16, and LOD cheats in the past, some times the new builds have caused Nvidia scores to drop by as much as apx 40% (7000 scores droping to 5000)

Doom III used to run much better on ATI hardware than on Nvidia hardware (in the beta stages with the ARB2 path forced on both), the same thing with FarCry, the difference comes under the TWIMTBP program, ahh the benifits of watching ATI cards get slower in popular games while yours get faster, for only a few million dollars.

Another well known Nvidia cheat is in UT2004, if you compare Nvidia's Flyby and Botmatch scores to ATI's Flyby and Botmatch scores, Nvidia has realy impressive Flyby usualy faster than ATI, but comparitivly much lower Botmatch scores, usualy worse than ATI's score, the difference, it's much easier to "optimize" for a prerendered path, same deal with the 3Dmarks.

Anyways take any review with a grain of salt, and realize that comonly benchmarked software, Doom III, FarCry, 3dmark, HL2, UT 2004, and a few others, are going to be heavily optimized for by both companys, usualy far more so by nvidia, If you want a good review, try Xbit labs or Anandtech which will comonly use a lot of less comon benchmarks as well, draw your conclusions from the games that dont mean enough to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars "optimizing" for.

Also the X700 according to ATI uses between 12~13 watts and the 6600 Go uses according to Nvidia 18 watts.

And finaly I would exepct the X700 to be the faster card in newer games by virtue of having 6 vertex shaders, compared to 3 for the 6600 Go.

There is a lot left to be seen in how these 2 cards are going to stack up agasint eachother, however looking at the Desktop X700 XT vs 6600 GT scores, and how close they are, then realizing that the ATI mobile part is closer to desktop spec's than the Nvidia card. Makes me think that over all the MRX700 will likely be the winer.

X700 XT MRX700
Core 475 mhz 350 mhz
Mem 1050 mhz 700 mhz

FX 6600 GT FX 6600 GO
Core 500 mhz 1000 mhz
Mem 300 mhz? 600 mhz?

The question marks are because Nvidia lists a range 300~375 on the core and 600~700 on the memory, however due to the fact that the Nvidia part is aperently using upto 38% more power than the ATI part I am beting that in the thin and light type laptops we are going to see more 300 core/600 mem set ups. The benches listed are oddly from a 375/600 setup.

In the first post, its shown the ATI kicks ass apart from in doom 3. Doom 3 is an open GL game which Nvidia are clearly better at and is widely known. However there is like 1 OpenGL game to every Direct3D as of recent and ATI owns Nvidia in Direct 3D.

Sorry for the mess...

i pasted it from notepad where it all looked nice

Here is the benchmarks again

x700 @ 350/600 with Pm 2Ghz, 1 Gig Ram

3dmark 03 5698
3dmark 05 2275
Doom3 41,1 (1024*768 no aa/ani) FPS
HL2 70 FPS
---------------------------------------
go 6600 @ 375/600 with Pm 1,7Ghz, 1 Gig Ram

3dmark 03 5918
3dmark 05 2376
Doom3 61 (1024*768 HQ) FPS
HL2 77 FPS

------------------------------------------

So i say once more, it seems that the go 6600 kicks x700s ass, in all the above tests.
I don't think it 'Kicks x700 ass' at all. And as I can see it does not win in all above tests 3D mark is higher on x700. And only 7fps increase on hl2 is not an ‘ass kicker’

@Olli, im sorry if im like a broken record here, let me say it again:
x700 @ 350/600 with Pm 2Ghz, 1 Gig Ram

3dmark 03 5698
3dmark 05 2275
Doom3 41,1 (1024*768 no aa/ani) FPS
HL2 70 FPS
---------------------------------------
go 6600 @ 375/600 with Pm 1,7Ghz, 1 Gig Ram

3dmark 03 5918 > 5698, yes?
3dmark 05 2376 > 2275, yes?
Doom3 61 (1024*768 HQ) FPS > 41,1
HL2 77 FPS > 70

An 7 fps in HL2 actually is impressive since Ati is known to perform better than nVidia in HL2.

how does one delete a post?

I think you click on edit and close tag.
As for your benchmarks, yes its seems the x700 is slightly beaten, but we can not judge both of the cards yet. Its too early to say that the x700 is well beaten, an improved driver can make all the difference, its early days still!!

yes, i know
I was planning on buying an Acer TM8104 for myself...but these number force my logic to reconsider the buy...

Especially since i heard of the new MSI M645:

http://www.passiontec.de/_fenster.ph...mit=0&katalog=

This computer in Sweden would cost neraly 1/2 the price of the 8104.

Aaaargh, i dont know what the h*ll to do...

That is a sweet sounding laptop, very similar to the 8103 I should think if it comes stateside for a better price than $1800 I might buy that instead of the Acer. Though the 1.7 vs 1.8, 60 Gb vs 100 Gb hd, and XP pro vs XP home, would mean I would expect to pay at least $200 less for the MSI.
