newbie with a question

i am in the process of buying a laptop and i need some help. the things that i am looking for are low price and to be able to play some games like rise of nations and simaler games to that. any help would be very helpful.

-other uses other than gaming . some word files and internet use email some cd burning and to watch dvd's but i have a desktop for most other stuff.

Yeah, price would be the first thing you should tell us, second the weight requirement/battery life, which will dramatically alter what type of LT you would choose in the situation.

www.Mwave.com CL51a or CL56 depending if you want a nice(ish) graphics card or not. With 1.6 Ghz CPU, 512 mb RAM, 60 Gig Hard Drive, DVD / CD RW, and XP Home the CL51a will run you $1,058 and the CL56 will run you $1,113. You arn't going to do better then that right now.

With that budget, you might want to consider averatec, which has decent qaulity for an LT with very affordable prices.

This one has decent quality which is well under 1000:

This one is somewhat above your stated budget, but has a very powerful processor and DVDRW drive, wide screen, large Hard Drive, and other goodies:

Maybe the Averatec you owned was different from the two my roommate has gone through - but in my experience Averatecs are cheap plastic pieces of s***.
