I bought a FS-550 yesterday. Got it home to realize it didn't come with a windows reinstallation or drivers cd, which i found very alarming. I formatted it to install xp pro, and tried to dl drivers off their website, and they don't help. there are 6 drivers listed for my model, but no video driver, network driver etc.. i cant get on the internet, the screen looks like shit. and now im sitting on hold with sony after talking to a computerized voice for the past 35 mintues or so. Will someone please help me.

The easiest thing to do is to go to the store with a blank DVD and CD and ask them if you can use their display model to burn recovery media or if they have spares that you can copy. Then you can use the CD to reinstall the drivers and keep the DVD in storage in case you ever need to reset it to factory settings.

I have a better idea, pack it all up,grab your receipt, take it back and get another one, open the box and make absolutely certain that it comes with everything it's supposed to including a Recovery CD....If for any reason the store gives you a hard time...demand a full refund!!

but it *shouldn't* come with a recovery cd, it comes with a recovery partition. If he blew it away during install he'll have to call and get a replacement. I doub a tsore will let you burn it as that would be a copyright violation.

You can get the chipset, network and audio driver direct from Intel. Same for video, except this time go to nVidia's page if you have a discrete card.

edit1: Or download the whole driver package from Vaio-Link.

edit2: i think hotkeys driver is not in the drivers pakage but utilites package.

Hope this helps.
