Anyone know who's the ODM for the Voodoo Envy M:515 laptop?

from Gizmodo website

I know the CL56 is the M:360

Thanks,
Scott

Look familiar. It has PCI-E too..

Is it the same as that future Dell, I think the model is 9300? If I remember that was a Sonoma laptop with Pci-E + a high powered GPU.

I'm pretty sure that's the Asus Z71A.

Quick poster delta, hehe! Yeah, g2p has the laptop listed as an asus.

Thanks, I prefer finding and buying an ODM to save some money. Don't want to pay extra for a Brand.
Yeah, that is a lot of money to pay for something like that. Especially when it is integrated video...blah!

That laptop is beautiful, is perfect look at the new picture posted in Engadget

Engadget VoodooPC Envy M:505

and the picture

from the info given at Engadget seems like the laptop is Sonoma based and has Nvidia 6600 Go and has Carbon Fiber chassis. That would be the perfect laptop in my opinion.

Hmm from what they are saying the m:515 is nVidia based PCI-E Sonoma platform. Hmmm I wonder who is the ODM. I don't recall seeing an ODM using nVidia with Somona release recently.

The m:515’s most prominent feature is its new Intel Sonoma Centrino Platform. That latest Centrino Wireless technology provides top-of-the-line wireless performance joined with a 533-Mhz frontside bus speed and faster memory.

You’ll also find the ENVY m:515 equipped with the latest PCI Express graphics, courtesy of the good folks at NVIDIA. All told, it equates to the most powerful performance you’re likely to find in any notebook computer. Retailing for $2,800, the combination of NVIDIA’s PCI Express graphics, DDR-2 memory, and serial ATA hard drives means you’ll be able to play the most demanding PC games available, like Doom 3 or Half-Life 2, wherever you and the ENVY m:515 go.

Nope, not Asus Z71A. The Asus is integrated graphics. From that new description, it is nVidia powered.

It's the same chassis as the Z71A. Asus only has to solder an nVidia VPU onto the mainboard to change the graphics. It probably has a different designation. Perhaps Z71Ae or something along those lines. Or maybe even Z81A.

For Comparison's sake:
Voodoo M:515

Asus Z71A

Hmm you're right. I wonder will they be releasing the ODM of it. Sad to see only major places like VoodooPC being able to get the nVidia version of it.

I would is it the nVidia 6600 PCI-E. That would be a great laptop if it was true! But still wouldn't want to pay 2800 bucks for VoodooPC on it

That would be very nice indeed. I wonder what the actual weight of that notebook is, compared to the quoted one. Asus seems to be somewhat tricky about the numbers they give for how much their notebooks weigh.

I've updated the FAQ sticky to include the Z71A and mentioned about Z71V. Can't wait for that one to be release. That will weight heavy on my next laptop I am about to get next month.
I wonder if there's any chance that the Z71V will have WSXGA.... (Z71A is WXGA.) If so, this will be a definite contender for my future laptop.

If you guys could give us a heads up in the Sonoma sticky thread about this and when it is released it would help out alot. Not to mention I want one buy one ASAP.

The notebook is an ASUS.

It is a Z71 variant. Voodoo doesn't actually have the model yet, but the "review" model they do have for the info you all are looking at is the ASUS model with integrated graphics.

There is a model with dedicated graphics (nVidia) coming out in 3-4 weeks, but it will still be pretty run of the mill, medium grade stuff.

ASUS is slated to release a high-end variant on the model, but that is more than a month away.
