Whats is your overall opinion of the I700?

Well, to make a long story short, I have been having non stop problems with my Inspiron XPS system and unfortauntely things have dragged on long enough that I can no longer get a refund on the machine. Dell has told me though that because of the lengthy list of problems that I have had with the machine (overheating CPU, two bad LCD's, non working touchpad) that they would be willing to make an exception and exchange the machine for one of their new I700 systems. I am seriously considering their offer, as after three months of problems I am still awaiting a touchpad and LCD replacement and desperately need a working laptop.

Is the build quality any better on the I700 series? What sort of problems have you guys had with yours? Also, is there any sort of extra warranty service that I could try and get out of them as part of the exchanged? Right now I only have their three year complete care with accidental care and XPS 24 hour service and I still find that their service is dismal at best. I now I would be taking a slight loss by doing the trade, but at least at the end of the day I would finally have a fully functioning laptop. Any comments on your I700 experience would be much appreciated as I need to get back to them before they change their mind and I am stuck with this non working brick for good.

I think he meant the inspiron 700m...I love mine but that is some concession though...2 totally different notebooks...I would demand a i9200 or at least an i8600...because the 700 is an ultraportable that can barely game but the i9200 and i8600 should be decent for gaming...good luck!

IF i was you i would spill coke all over the xps or drop it down from second floor and have them completely replace you another xps since you paid for 3 year complete care with accidental care.. 700m is only on a $1500 fully loaded while the xps is on $2500 or more for a fully loaded so you are losing out a grand..

The i700m has a 12" WXGA with integrated graphics. It's the opposite end of the spectrum of an XPS. Another member had his i8500 replaced with a refurb i8600, so I think thats a minimum here. With the i9300 coming out, I would think Dell would offer a i9200.

You are getting a bigger, more powerful system then the 700m so the extra $1000 is worth it.

wha??? Read the thread...

Definately ask for something better than a 700m. Its a really nice notebook but since you bought an XPS in the first place its prolly not what your after.
