Hello Board,
Anyone know if you can, and how to, captures screen grabs from a DVD. I am playing my DVD with Power DVD on a Dell 9200. Can you capture with this software, or with WMP?
Thanks!!

Yes, PowerDVD can do screen caps. The little camera icon on the control panel does it.

thanks, but I don't have that icon??!! This software was preinstalled by Dell, they also sent the disk. Should I reinstall using the disk??

They probably sent you a very cripped version of it then.

Try pushing the C key while viewing a video, then check your clipboard. That's what powerDVD says on mine.

as long as its not playing in overlay mode, just do print screen, and crop it in a photo editor

alt+prnt scrn takes a screen cap of just the active window so no cropping needed

You MUST turn off overlay mode first.

He means hardware acceleration. Here is what you do in PowerDVD (be sure you aren't playing a movie at the time):

1. Click on the little button that looks like a hammer (the configuration button).

2. The configuration box should be up. Now click on the "video" tab and uncheck the "hardware acceleration" box.

3. Now click the "Player Setting" tab and click the "advanced" button (it's in the lower right of the box).

4. Click on the "Snapshot" tab and here you'll find options of where to save your snapshots, how they should be sized, etc.

Now to take a snapshot, just hit "C" (for capture) or click on the snapshot button on the interface.
