bios update?

I was wondering about the HT bios update. I have a 2.4 ghz and will upgrade to a HT chip sometime in the near future. (they are getting to be dirt cheap) That being said, I am about to re-install my os and programs. (i like to do this atleast every 4-6 months to keep my systems running smoothly.) Should I, could I, install the new HT bios now, when re-installing the os (not enabling ht, just update bios) before i upgrade the chip. This way all I would need do is put the new chip in later. Thanks for the advise in advance.

STILL LOVE MY 8887!

No, you shouldn't, can't. EACH time you ENABLE or DISABLE hyper-threading, you either have to FRESH install or REINSTALL (via Repair mode) the OS. Solly!

Thanks for the reply. Thats sort of why I was going to update the bios, but not enable HT, when I do a fresh install. By the way while looking at P4's with HT to find a good price, I saw something interesting. The 2.4 is somewhat the same as the 3.06HT. Someone had enabled HT on one by accident. It seems now alot of them are tring to "hack" the 2.4 to "open" it up. That would be nice. I plane on puting the 2.4 out of my 8887 in a mobo for my wife and replacing mine with a 2.4-? HT (what ever is the best value). But thanks again, I did not know that just enabling HT in bios meant a re-install.

its been said that doing a "repair" often works...its a lot safer to fresh install the OS when enabling or disabling ht.
