I have a area 51m 7700. In my start menu where you have internet explorer and outlook express icons, The outlook icon is changed to an icon that appears when you dont have the correct program to open the program. Has anyone come across this and there is a fix? Please let me know if you heard of anything.

By the way I can change it in the prefs to a different mail client and the icon appears also the icons in all the folders are there.

Right-click on the icon in the start menu and choose properties.

Then, in shortcut section, just click on change icons.

There is no change icon option in the properties it takes you to internet properties or the other two options are read mail or remove from the list. Which i have tried and they dont work. Thanks though.

On the Windows website you can download tweakxp under the powertoys section. In that program there is a repair icons option that should help you out.

Try going into your Display Properties under the Desktop tab and click the Customize Button. See if IE is checked. If it's not, check it. If it is checked, try unchecking it and apply then rechecking it and apply.
Might want to run a anti-spyware program on your machine also.

EDIT: There is no apply on the Customize Desktop button... click ok then apply and go back into the button and recheck it then OK then OK.

That is what happened as it is a program that changes the icons etc..did you see what is did before you used it? If you maybe uninstall it and do a system restore to prior to that download, that might solve your problem..also , if I remember correctly, it will be in your displays properties..try that again..alien gui might be under themes..listed as a theme and not in the advanced tab area
