The units are equipped to support both PATA and SATA drives ( the unit contains an adapter to switch from PATA to SATA drives )
We have performed some extensive testing on the Eval unit we received from ASUS, I think this unit will be their top seller until the newly revised M6NE/M6BNE hits the streets with the 915 chipset, expected release date is end April/beginning May
Hope this helps.

are the pci-e mobile graphics cards swappable? just wondering if a later upgrade would be out of the question.

z70a or z70v is supposed to be the M6 replacement. There is a thread somewhere here mentioning it.

The Z70A will have shared video, and the Z70V will have discrete 64mb X600 graphics.DDR2 support will be standard on both units, but they will be different in appearance ( lighter grey/silverish color instead of the current charcoal color of the M6 series )
The Z70A is due to be released around end March, and the Z70V roughly a month later.

istnc: Do you know if the Z71A comes in a 15" version? I have seen here in Norway that there are two different versions. 15"XGA and WXGA versions. Do you know something?

To my knowledge, the Z71A is widescreen only

This obtuse and lethargic POS is NOT fit to continue the M6 lineage.

ASUS needs to get the V series designers to jump on this one.

Not a bad price at the last link. Under $2000 for a maxed out unit (well, 1 GB, not 2 GB). But, why do they say (WXGA+ 1680x1050)...that is really WSXGA+ if true.

probably just a typo...it happens

The more I think about it, the more I want it because of the GFX card. Yet everytime I come to the conclusion that if I were buying a laptop for the GFX card, I would rather wait for an MXM or AXIOM solution.

Besides I'm too used to the good looks of the S5 series and I'd rather not "downgrade"

This thing is cheap as fuc* though for that GFX card and the WSXGA. Perhaps this will be the new CL56?

I too want it for the graphics card. I don't want to pay money for a product that I have to hack drivers for that probably wont work. So I went Nvidia.

The GPU does support MXM from nVidia. I'm just now sure if it used in this specific laptop...
