???? Are you referring to the V6v? that's a different computer. It has a thread, too. (and the graphics card for it isn't the 6600, it's the ATi x600)

You wont get duties, but you will be hit with the following charges (in Canadian funds):

UPS Brokerage Fee ~ $20-50
GST - 7% of declared laptop value
PST - 7% " " " "

So if the Asus Z71V will be out in the U.S in April, when will we see it in the U.K.?
You might be able to find out from Rick at Integrated Service Technologies (istnc.com) or Justin at ProPortable (ProPortable.com). istnc is a member of these forums and PROPortable is a member of the Notebook Review forums. Both are authorized Asus resellers. I suppose you could also just e-mail Asus to find out.

Hi all - I have been lurking here for a week or two now - great forum. I am looking to replace my (embarrased look) HP Ominbook 4150, and have about £1500 to spend. From what I can make out from (dodgy) pics, specs, etc., the Evesham Voyager C510 http://www.evesham.com/PCs/Info.asp?...D-239937601ADC
is based on the Asus Z71V. It has just been reviewed and bechmarked in PCPro magazine and the review is available at http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/70417...ager-c510.html
I am going to try to visit one of Evesham's shops over the weekend to see if I can get my hands on one! It looks ideal for what I want to do with it now & still have plenty in reserve for the future. If I get to see/feel one I'll let you all know!

Thanks for the find minijohn - just concern more on the review regarding the battery. Can you also find out if the model reviewed has the Ambient Light Sensor? Looks like the 3-6 hrs in some of the websites could be because of this feature. Anyway, please do give us some feedbacks on this unit and thanks.

You'll be able to watch most films in their entirety when travelling, with the battery lasting two hours, 21 minutes in our DVD playback test. It's best to keep CPU-intensive tasks for when a mains socket is to hand, though, with our toughest battery test lasting only one hour, 39 minutes, extending to just over three hours during light use

They look similar, but they aren't quite the same. The Evesham has 2 firewire ports and express card with no ambient light sensor, while the Asus has one firewire port and ambient light sensor with no express card. I can't get a close enough look at the Evesham model to see if it has Audio DJ, but the specs say nothing about it. Regarding actual battery life of the Z71V, Rick at istnc said that he got 4.5 hours out of it with no power management software equipped, and another reseller got 5.25 hours of battery life. I'm not sure if it's just the ALS that's the difference between these notebooks, as far as battery life is concerned, but we'll be able to find out when we get them and the reviews start coming.

Djembe_Rob - thank you..you have given me some peace of mind..although I agree with you...let us wait for some review coming within the next few weeks

Well, I went to my local Evesham store (Milton Keynes) today, but they didn't have a C510 display model - apparently it's too new!

Olli3 - can you let me know if you can get a look at one at the London store?

I would have ordered one today if there wasn't a big difference between the review price and the price on the sales system in-store (about £150 for the spec I want), but the sales guy I saw is going to check with head office Monday & ring me to let me know if the review price is available.

By the way the spec. I want to order is Pentium M 760 (2GHz), 1GB DDR2 RAM, 80GB SATA HDD, 1680x1050 screen, 2 year OSM warranty, plus all the standard stuff that this chassis brings.
olli3, the specs check out. That's the same as the Asus model. I wonder how many companies Asus is sublicensing to? I'm also curious if only the "official" Asus ones have ALS. hmmm...
Starting to really look good, anyone wanna explain why the price is sooo low?

Sorry if someone already posted it, but its like 15 pages long now
post #220 of 245
If you're referring to the AJP version, the price is in pounds, not dollars. The price is about the same when converted according to an exchange rate of between 1.5-2 dollars for every pound.
