Sony A690 HDD

I couldn't find a manual or other spec's on the Sony site indicating how hard it is to access the Hard Drive. I'd like to put a 7200 RPM drive in an A690, but not if I have to take the whole thing apart to do it.

Also, any thoughts on this bag for it: http://www.spireusa.com/products/EX5.html

You can call Sony and order the service manual, or check over at the Talkvaio forums to see if anyone has one they can email to you. If it is like other recent Sony models, you will have to pretty much take it apart.

Spire makes very nice bags, and this looks like a nice messenger bag.

For info on how to upgrade the hard drive read the second to last post in this thread:

Be sure to follow the links to various related posts to get all of the details and photos. Working on the A690 should be identical to working on the A290 (same design).

As for the Spire Endo XL, I tried one and returned it. Two problems:
1) The laptop sleeve is too small for the A290/690
2) The handle is off-set from the center of gravity, causing it hang awkwardly when using the handle instead of the shoulder strap. (Imagine lifting a plastic shopping bag by one handle instead of two and you'll get the idea)

Thanks very much both of you. Can anyone recommend a good messenger bag for this pc? I'm thinking maybe a Timbuk2 Commute XL, but I don't like the Velcro.

I plan on trying the Booq FoleeMessenger 17 but haven't gotten around to ordering one yet.
