Ok, I just got my Dell i8600 in a few days ago and I have already been choppping video for my site. <ShamelessPlug> www.LogoLunchBox.com </ShamelessPlug> Both systems are using 512 Ram and Adobe Premiere with Photoshop. First, here are the spec's for the two systems:

Laptop:
Dell Inspiron 8600c
Pentium-M 2Ghz Dothan
512 Ram
7200 RPM 60 Gig HD
128 Ati 9600 Vid Card

Desktop:
Self Built PC
Pentium 4 3.2 Hyper-Threaded
512 Ram
128 nVidia GeFrce fx 5500
M-Audio Delta 44 sound card
2x160 Gig HD
800 Mhz FSB

The laptop actually hold's up well to the desktop. There has been a bit of latency in the video if I try play videos and move the monitor, but everything else is fine. I haven't yet try to render video or export/encode media for the web on the laptop, but I will try to tonight. I am sure that this is where the Hyper-Threading comes into kicking ass. My plan is to use the lappie to edit on the go, and then transfer the files (yes, all 30+ gigs of two hour video) to the desktop to render.
