GROAN I was on the phone with Dell for 6 hours yesterday, then I called verizon I got a woman who KNEW what she was doing and got me connected. I started a subject on how do you get rid of the ripple effect, the answer you don't. I want to thank the two fourum members that had ideas, but the english speaking Tech Support guy said they sent you a bad card, I have had you try everything and nothing has worked, I am typing out a expedited of a new computer to be sent to you, you will get a call tonight funny, that's what I heard 2 weeks ago on Friday morning, if they don't call I'll be calling you 6 hours from now that's 11:35 PM.

4 computers for one I-8500 that was on sale because it was being replaced by the I-8600, one refurbished that that the drive broke into my eyelid and right toe. 1 brand new one with a bad 128MB 9600 ATI Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo card, 3 more hours on the telephone to be told I need to have yet another one sent to me. I really don't think Dell made any profit selling me a computer.

Off Topic: Although saying he wasn't in the DVD movie "The Jackal" I could have sworn he was the voice of the synwep computer that The Jackal had bought a high cyclic rate gattling gun off of. He sounded just like the computer voice of the man who did the voice for the exciting movie. He didn't speak like a mans voice he sounded just like a duplicate voice for the synwep on the computer in Clives bank office in Switzerland. It was okay but you all know whose voice I would have loved to hear, that's Candace Bergen AKA the SAL9000 computer in 2010 billed as Olga Mosnerd, but I knew it was no mos nerd, that had that sexy of a voice.

I should start a poll for this one I wonder what computer they will send me this time, another I-8600 or ? and I wonder what card?

What was this all about: "the drive broke into my eyelid and right toe"???? That sounds like a nice lawsuit if you were injured by a faulty hard drive.

I dunno about a lawsuit, but I'd sure try for a top of the line model for all your suffering!

Gentlemen I am crippled what good would more money do me? All that is wrong with this brand new Inspiron 8600 is that the imaging device will not take a driver install to stop the wave effect of the pages rolling downwards. I have tried all the new and the older CD and all are saying device not found to intall driver to. This what Dennis at Dell Ran into, aafter my 6 hour session with a nother noob tech support unlike Dennis I removed the new hard drive and replaced it with the older 80 GB hard drive containg the service pack one information. at this time my hardly moving compter was back up to speed but it now has a wave effect fist seen on startup then later when I scroll from either the touch screen or reinstalled Logitech Optical Trackman. I have searched the internet for hours trying to find ways to install the driver Dennis said it needed yet usig the older SP1 or the new SP2 could I find a permanent solution!

They were to have called me for what they plan to do but I got 2 calls from the same woman whose only question was "Did the ? Team call? I have no idea who she represents she says she works at dell Support yet she couldn't fathom Dell team not calling me. The second call from this same vocied woman ask me yet again did anyone from Dell contact you, I answered truthfully No, she then said I should expect a call after 10:00 AM Tommorow. I told them it would be more cost effective if they were to contact some professional in my area to come to my apartment and fix what troubles it had rather than having to build and send me a new one.

Gentlemen and forum I have been honest with Dell support duting a 6 hour call yesterday and a 3 hour call to Dennis, telling me don't worry someone from expidited will call you tonight. They didn't and I don't want you to have to go over old ground that was said above. Thank you Gold beater and anetis for your kind suggestions to this 58 years and 1 day old man. It seems that Dell is in it's own quagmire of not knowing what to do as I *stated* any new computer sent to should not have the full of bugs service pack 2! This latest computer had it on and was installed by Dell techicians as part of a forced upgrade, since that was the only upgrade I ever turned Microsoft down on taking. I firmly believe they thought by putting it into the installation software they thought would be doing right, but it should be the customer wo decides whether or not to take a flawed upgrade visably known by almost every windows computer operator and programmer, that truthfully, the word is *don't* take service pack 2!

I was with you until the conclusion and your final sentence. Service Pack 2 has many critical fixes and reliability improvements. I recommend it as a "must load" and all your new Windows CDs already have it incorporated. Service Pack 2 did break some applications that were poorly written - by now any viable commercial products have been fixed. Either ATI or NVidia graphics drivers have not had any trouble with Service Pack 2. Several of us could have given you detailed step by step instructions on how to update your video driver.

I realize you have to jump through hoops with Dell for them to come to a conclusion of doing something else for you but we could have saved you some frustration.

Heinrich as I stated the computer came with Service pack already installed and just trying to get on to the correct URL of this forum after 15 minutes of waiting it still didn't load. I tried this with other foums I did or din't belong to yet the NONE of the programs loaded. I was totally taken aback why these forums could not be loaded via my Brand spanking new computer. After 3 frustrating hours I didn't get any URL to load, I then called Dell I got this noob tech support that had to go and ask for assistance every other idea that didn't pan out, after 6 hours I said thank you and that I would be calling back to possible y get more help than your knowledge limits. I then called Verizon who figured out what Dell didn't install correctly and had me on the internet in a New york city minute. This was done after I had typed all of the above.

Heinrich I believe I gave a abslute honest statement.

For the last 2 hours I have researched every Radeon imaging driver installation I could find, and there are hundreds of problems, people with a lot more problems and the experience or training to deal with this. I have had I am going back to bed I am otherly exausted from doing everything Dell told me to do and I got absolutely nowhere.

What I am seeing 'only' when I scroll is like a refresh taking place, only it rolls all the way from the top of the screen to the bottom, every time you try to scroll down! TIA for any help you can give me short of throwing this computer out of my 3rd story window and buying a completely new other name than Dell computer I have the money to do this and if it would help I would donate this troubled computer to the Salvation Army to get their top man/woman to fix this and resell it with the money going to their charity work. My late father said the best and only charity is the Salvation Army for when he was involved in accident at the P. P. & Light company of Hauto, PA. the Salvation Army had hot coffee and donuts. The Red Cross were there with placards asking for donations, but absolutely no help for tiring workers trying to get their friends out of the collapsed part of the the now raized since 1956 building!

I am sorry you feel that way Billy

I am sorry you feel that way Billy.

My Dell has been fixed my cleaning out the machine and downolading all the drivers, and I got my DSL connnection back on and everything is working A Ok, it just took 9 hours of being on the phone with Dell finally a sopervisor called me on the phone and walked me through a clean the hard drive and reinstalling everything, the 128 MB ATI Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo card is functioning, I am now hopefully out of Dell Hel*. The 'ping' was not allowing me to send outside of the machine, the final solution was made by well infrom female representative of Verizon. End of thread.

Sorry Billy if you feal I am asking for attention I will not post anything from now on, just respond to polls and questions, I hope you will change your attitude towards me in the future.

P.S. I have been officically 58 years old now for 2 days.

Michael I don't understand your response, I am just stating a fact of my life as of June 9th, 1985. I get 2 incomes one from my trucking company and one from my teamsters union. I have a 2005 Subaru Legacy 4 door sedan paid off the day I bought it. I much more DVD, DVD players a top of the line Dell computer, a paid off electric scooter which I bought in 1999. I have a wide screen 39 inch diag RCA F38310 line doubled HDTV.
I live in apartment in low rent housing with some elderly people, with free heat thermostat in every apartment, garbage chute on every floor 4 sprinklers in each apartment and every 6 feet through out the full 3 story building. I am very close to the 900 DVD ownership and I have 2 DVD recorders plus video capture and a Pinoneer 16 x and 4 x DL write speeds, ADS Pyro Video Capture both connected by 1394 firewire.

In 4 years I can retire and get a 3rd income from Social Security for I just turned 58 on the 16th. Money won't buy me what I really want to do examples I am not allowed to ride *any* rides at Theme Parks, I would like to do what I was trained for N.A.U.I.(National Association of Underwater Instructors) AKA SCUBA diving, Sky Diving , Hang Gliding, all of which I did before or owned the equipment to do it with. Go camping, ride and own a HD Motor Cycle.

Michael do you now get the picture of what more money will not buy me?

BTW my avatar is the same color and style of the scooter I own!

Same as WE do NOT understand most of your overly-generous posts. See how frustating it is? Could you kindly make just synopses of whatever is in your mind so that we could better understand your posts thus making BETTER replies to you.

We ALREADY know about your accident and incident years ago blablabla and blablabla.

Chazzy,

I think that you have a lot to share with folks. You can meet great folks on the net that can even develop into real life friends that may even live near you. You have a great sense of humor, and probably could tell stories in the correct setting that would be most entertaining. I really suggest branching out more. AOL has som e fantastic boards that are easy to use - and at 9.99 a month if you choose "bring your own access" plan. I've already suggested hometheaterforum to you awhile back for some great folks who love to talk about DVDs. I know there are also other veterans and disabled groups as well. I think that you have much to share and there is a place for it somewhere where people will welcome you with open arms and treat you with great respect, but that's not going to happen here. This forum centers on, about, and notebooks - this forum Dell notebooks. It's open to all people of all colors, religions, sexual preferences, ages, degrees of physical health - but all of that is also irrelevant here and quite honestly does not belong - from anyone. You need to use google and find your niche. Maybe others have more positive suggestions for you.

chazzy, i personally feel that you were trying to mess with your system(s) for no apparent reason, trying to tweak it, take it apart, etc, and you didn't know what you were doing. bottom line, if you do not know what you are doing, get educated before hand about it, otherwise, you are going to continually run into the same problems. blaming dell for you goofs, b/c seriously 4 new computers cannot have failed unless you are the most unlucky person in the universe. and don't give me the rant about being handicapped or retarded or old or whatever, we all have problems.

moreover, it sounds like you want lots and lots of attention, and it seems many people, to include myself are giving it to you, for no apparent reason. this will be my last reply to you, since you just want everyone in the world to feel sorry for you. deal with it and move on. we all have problems, you are not the sole benefactor of problems.

your problem appears overly simple and you should have been able to refresh it from the hidden partition unless you decided to mess around and delete the thing for no apparent reason. i would suggest in the future that since you have so many problems with computers and the like that you should pay the extra to have home installation. this will resolve your issues and prevent you from staying on the phone endlessly.

as far as what more money can buy you: upgrading to gold service and home installation, that is what more money can buy you. then you wouldn't be upset by waiting or impromper setup and configuration.

I was fortunate enough to get a mad as hell supervisor to do a complete clean and reinstallation and now I have or ripple effect, the 9600 Pro Turbo Card is working great and my telephhone calls to these ISP and Dell are over, my support will run out in July. When I get into trouble after July I will call a serice in my city and have them come for the machine fix it and let me pay the gol dang bill. Dell H*ll waiting for help 1 hour and 40 minutes before I got someone, there is no excuse for that nonsense. Laugh all you want to but don't become disabled it won't be a laughing matter to your laughing billy user name or to you personally as a human being. :!: :!:
