you could manually wire them....that would take a while though

There was a post about converting a transparent keyboard so it would glow from underneath a while back. The guy had some pretty good ideas and skills, but it was a failure.

The keys on my Asus S5N are sort of clear (whiteish clear) - kind of like a white equivalent of your keys.

I thought it'd be really cool if there was a small blue led under each key and they lit up and had an afterburn (stay lit for a second or two) when I hit them

i know that apple (2 models) and panasonic (1 model) have backlit keyboards. i wish all laptops had backlit keyboards. thinklite is a little weak and usb lites are just another item to carry.

I think one of the ways that you could do it would be to use the internal USB slot to wire some type of USB LED light within the laptop. Hmm... let me look into this.

dont start teasing me there mr. wong. you would earn my business if you could figure a way to give any laptop a backlit keyboard-that looks good by the way. can you tell me why you think that manufacturers have never really warmed up to the idea of a backlit keyboard for computers-like in cell phones etc.?

In the case of the ones out there, such as the Apple keyboards on the Powerbooks, in order to reduce the battery drain, you would also have to install a sort of light sensor that can determine how much power to use to light up the keys. I think probably in general, most manufacturers don't feel it's a priority since most people who can type already know where most of the keys are.

Just my thoughts, you guys can call me Roger btw.

ahhh. that makes sense as i dont know how to type. i use the 2 finger look at key method-i guess having a personal secretary most of my adult working life has defenitly spoiled me and where spoiling didnt hurt my laziness has. thanks for response.
