they aren't the most comfortable thing ever, but you get used to them. some are more comfortable than others, and you have several different options for sleeves. They don't fall out of your ear if you have them in right, which isnt difficult. Canalphones aren't good for running because of microphonics and you'll be able to hear your footsteps very prominently. Also not good for eating
Do Not get the bose. They suck. They sound like crap, are very fragile, and are very expensive. Great combination, eh?
For exercise, I recommend koss ksc75s or sennheiser MXxx0 (400, 450, 500, or 550). Which of those depends on which style you prefer. I don't know of any clip on noise cancelling phones. Noise-cancelling is not the best for sound quality, though.
Oh, and I got my 20gb Rio Karma for $180 shipped, I don't think that can be beat by any player. Not to mention I think it's one of the best players on the market, regardless of price. With its parametric EQ, best sound quality out there too, in my opinion.
