Just a thought here. If you pit him against the techs and customer service peeps like that, he will only be that much more ticked off and possibly dangerous to oother mobile pc users that appear happier in their portable selff made heavens than he.
The warranty does him no good if the company he bought it from does not consider one dead pixel as a defect and obviously Sager doesn't. Besides warranty returns by Federal express and customer service depts that consider english their second language are not the remedy to end all remedies that we all pretend they are.
I had a cd burner go bad in my AW lapppy , one of the infamous QSI dual DVD\CDRW units that populate everythng from Sonys to Toshibas and have for too many years if you ask me.
It took many posts and phone calls to their techies(I use this word loosely) just to get them to agree to allow me to send it back for inspection. After they recieved it, they supposedly sent it to their engineering dept and backwards engineered the unit(their words). Bottom line, no replacement under warranty due to two things. I damaged the unit in some kind of violent way; but they won't tell me how its damaged and I put my social security number in a hidden area on top of the unit and thats not acceptable to them.
So, the only option offered to me by a hungry, yet motivated commisioned parts saleman was to buy a new optical unit and be happy with a 15% discount. The end!
What do you do? Sue em? Report them to better business bureau? Evil eye?
No, three thousand miles can make a very good buffer to solving small to meidum problems with factory, obvioiusly. The only solution is to take notes, learn from your mistake and educate others to the dangers of buying expensive items by mail without doing the research and even then sometimes you just have to chalk it up to bad luck.
Warranty, dead pixel policy, compulsive disorder, or none of the above!!! It is all just one giant money making machine for share holders somewhere.
Final solution? Don't fight it, buy some AW, Sager or Dell stock and laugh about pixels and mental illness all the way to your bank.
Oh yeah! No dead pixels here either, that must really bite. btw: Anybody got time to burn some music cd's for my old lady, hehe!
