my friend wants to upgrade his oem 2x 8600 dvdrw burner to this DL 8x dvd/rw drive will this work?

let me know if anyone done this upgrade sucessfully and is any software needed or any firmware issues? thanks

It should work since the 8600 has the option to switch out the drives for a new drive, hard drive, or battery

It doesn't have to be the exact one.. ppl here bought a 3rd party dual writer and it worked
