Strange power problem

I have an HP ze1230 which will not power on with the AC adaptor. It powers on with the battery no problem. I've had the AC adaptor tested with a meter and it is fine. When it it plugged into the laptop, the "ground plate" was tested and it had the 19V that it's supposed to have. I've tried powering it up without the battery in, thinking there might be a conflict there, still no luck. Any ideas where the problem could be??? Much thanks!

have you tried different wall plugs yet?

When you already have the LT running off of batteries and then plug in the power cord does it switch to wall power or does it stay on battery?
