Welcome to the world of compromise

I guess it comes down to how bad you want a 7200RPM drive and how much it will interfere with your usage pattern. For backup/restore and extra storage I don't find it to be too bad... just don't try running large programs from it or stuff that will hit the disk frequently. It's slow, yeah, but not unbareable; and of course, this is totally subjective.
